PHUKET: The New Yorker taken into custody for roaming the halls of Phuket International Airport naked, and for defecating in the hall and attempting to throw it at staff and other travellers, had “overdosed” on sleeping medication, not sex drugs, say police.

The American, Steve Cho, 27, was taken into custody by airport security late last Thursday night (Jan 4) after his bizarre behaviour was brought to their attention. At first apprehensive to take him into custody, a total of six officers were finally forced to physically restrain Cho as he had failed to respond to requests from the security team.

Excessive force was not used, airport security said in a public statement issued on Sunday (Jan 7) in response to a deluge of comments posted after videos of the incident went viral online.

I occasionally use sleeping medication, however, when I take one, it sends me to sleep rather than give me the urge to throw faeces at other people. Maybe I am not taking it properly ? :coffee1:

Stillnox is a sleeping pill that is well documented in causing mentally disturbed type of behavior.

In some people.. but people should know the risk. I would sue the producer if it landed me in trouble like this guy.

Right.

By the way, would you be OK to divulge where your mother delivered your life form?

Your  post simply has  a bitter ring to it, mate.

How do you know what you get up to when you think you're in a drug induced sleep?

Your comment may have had some credibility if you had removed the word "American" from it

As a red-blooded 'Murikan through-and-through, I am pleasantly surprised to see a few of you coming to our general defense after an insensitive and foolish post. We ALL have our faults and I am sick to death of people taking cheap shots to make what they think is "a point." Thanks to all the adults in the room.

my guess you're  60 and above

and you would be quite wrong.

The fact that its irrelevant clearly shows your post was total nonsense in the first place

Grow up and troll elsewhere

Well, guess that's alright then...pfft, still a nutjob. People that have somehow escaped being rightfully sectioned under the mental health act of their country by fleeing elsewhere should be seriously evaluated when they pull silly stuff like this. Sleeping pills my arse....nice excuse for your lunacy.

Whilst it is highly possible other illicit drugs were consumed, there is a long list of legal drugs that have had terrible side effects on the consumer, with many resulting in long drawn out legal cases.

The Thalidomide drug comes to mind.

Didn't they discover that Viagra can make some users go blind?

Now, you can pretty much dream up some excuse for anything and it's accepted as some ridiculous condition.

Yes, much the same way they dreamed up smoking causes lung cancer, until they discovered smoking causes lung cancer.

I think we are all asked to accept a little too much latitude on these sorts of situations. Imo, it is not OK to go AWOL on this stuff in a public place and we are all supposed to accept it as just a "side affect" of some borderline situation/drug etc....NO. This guy should have been captured and institutionalized long ago. Regardless of what some fluffy social mental doctor has come up with and called it some fancy named condition....not OK for him to be just roaming around and pull this crap imo.

Far too fluffy on these things now. This guy in this report belongs on the funny farm in the care of the men in white clothes...period.

You know, many people that are so so so drunk, exhibit many of the same actions as this guy in the OP.

Are heavily intoxicated people "Fluffy????"  Do they belong "in the care of men in white coats?"

Let's not forget, alcohol is a legal drug.
