Ubon to Loei

Featured Replies

Gents I plan to drive from Ubon to Loei, after checking the map I have an option of two routes when I reach Khon Kaen

Just checking if someone can advise the best of the two.

I did this drive last week, basically you can toss a coin as too the best route! Highway 12 is a fantastic road in places and probably the better way, I came back that way as the other route had more than one traffic jam. The roads around Loei are not the best, one of those places they forgot about!

have a safe journey...

Thanks for the info I will use the highway 12, when I depart Loei I will head to Bueng Kan and then Nakhon Phanom heading back to Ubon.

I was considering using the car but if the roads are no good I will use my SUV

The condition of the roads isn't that bad, just not enough of them, I would take the car!

I would simply take the suggest route for shortest driving time.

Just instead of bypassing Khon Kaen north I would bypass on the south.

Road #201 up north to Loei has been improved/widened in the past years. I used it from time to time. Partly scenic.

All roads good for a car, no need for an offroad vehicle

Depends how much time you have and whether you want to visit towns or national parks and temple stuff.
