Hello everybody

1)I have 2+1 months single entry tourist visa and my visa will expire on 7 march. But for some reasons I can't leave Thailand before 7 march but I can leave Thailand on 14 march. So which means 7 days later after my visa expire. I never overstay before. So I don't have any experiences or I have no idea how's going on.

My question is. If I leave Thailand 14 march after my visa expire 7 days later;

A)Thai government okay about this? I mean after 7 days overstay they give me any bad situation, red stamp, can't back Thailand again or can't make tourist visa again from other country etc.?

B)At the airport what am I have to do? Just go overstay office and pay money?

C)How much for per day?

2)I done my Thai tourist visa 4 times from Vientiane, Laos and 2 times Penang, Malaysia. So next time might be I get red stamp. As I heard about Savannakhet, Laos can't give you red stamp even you have 5-6 tourist visa in your passport. Because they not reported from government.

A)Is that true?

B)If I go Savannakhet, Laos. Am I need to show in my bank account 20,000 Baht?

C)For example if this bank with my name but from my home country bank is that okay?
D)After all done when I back to Thailand in the Thai border am I have to show also 20,000 Baht cash to immigration office? Any documents? How to pay?

3)If I go Laos consulate in Bangkok for make Laos visa on 9 march but my Thai visa expire on 7 march. Is that okay for Laos consulate to make me Laos visa?

Thank you!

You should go to your local immigration office and apply for a seven-day extension of stay, fee 1,900 Baht. The extension will be denied and you get a stamp asking you to leave the country not later than 14 March. During this period, you will not be on overstay.

Does your VISA expire then OR is it your permission to stay that expires, so the admitted to date on the entry stamp?

Seems like cheaper and better.

1)But right now I live in Surat Thani but I extend my last tourist visa after 2 months for 30 days in Bangkok. So can I extend 7 days more in Surat Thani immigration or am I have to go Bangkok immigration?

2)My visa expire on 7 march if I go for extend 7 days more for example on 5 march so this 7 days extend start from 7 march or 5 march?

3)Let's say I extend 7 days more and new visa with extension expire on 14 march but if I leave Thailand 16 march is that okay? So am I have to pay 2 days overstay?

You can apply for the extension, pay 1900 baht and be granted 7 days leave the country after the application is denied. Not really a 7 day extension. You can do it at Surat Thani immigration.

The 7 days will start on the 8th of march. Which would allow you to stay until the 14th.

You would have to pay for 2 days of overstay.

So if do 7 days leave country extension and also for overstay pay for example extra 2 days. After all Thai government okay about this? I mean after 2 days overstay or 7 days leave country extension they give me any bad situation, red stamp, can't back Thailand again or can't make tourist visa again from other country etc.?

I am not recommending you overstay the 7 days only that it could be done.

There is no banning for overstay until you go over 90 days of overstay unless you are caught with it before leaving the country.

You said you could leave on 14th March so why then say you want to get a 7-day extension and overstay for 2 days? Just leave before your visa expires...why are you determined to overstay? You will probably not encounter any serious problems whatever you do but why take the chance in the current climate?

I see. I'll see. And how about my other questions can you answer also? I mean about;

If you haven't done 2 land crossings yet why not do a quick border run? I'm not a visa puritan - I've had overstays in the past that would send the holier than thou brigade here into a frenzy - but I feel the climate has changed a lot since those days and I'd avoid it if at all possible.

Is it still the same routine for a British OAP getting a METV from the Embassy in London by applying in person.

Do you still just take

Passport

2 photos

Proof of pension

Fee

Application form

These were the previous requirements until 2016. Is it still the same. I can't find the relevant info on this or any other website.

If you are on a OAP you can apply for a multiple entry non-o visa at the embassy that allows unlimited 90 day entries for a year from the date of issue.

A METV only allows 60 day entries for 6 months from the date of issue. It requires 5000 pounds in a bank for 6 months to apply.

Thanks Ubon. That's the visa I have been getting for the last few years from Embassy in London.

You did not have to show any proof of funds just a letter saying that you were in receipt of a pension along with............

125 GBP.

Passport with at least 6 months to go.

2 photos,

Completed form

It gives the applicant 90 day stays each time and then you must cross a border and come back. I used to do a visa run from Pattaya to  the Cambodian border get my passport stamped and return on the mini bus.

I could see no mention of it on the Thai Embassy website.

Thanks again.

It is hard to find things on their website. Using this link you can scroll down and find this under non immigrant O visas.   http://thaiembassyuk.org.uk/en/types-of-visa#section5

Don't overstay. Get the 7 days at Immigration or do a border run.

You need a print out of a  bank statement (cash not accepted) showing at least 20k baht or equivalent in another currency + hotel booking (or lease contract) + ticket out of Thailand for a SETV in Savannakhet.

You may be asked to show 20k baht cash or equivalent in another currency when entering Thailand.

Everyone is telling you not to overstay and you refuse to listen. Why not work everything out for yourself?

You say you can leave the country on the 14th March then say you want to leave on the 16th if you get an extension to the 14th. Really, what is wrong with you? It's well meant advice with no lectures: listen to it.

Good to know...

If you're on a tourist visa there is no valid reason why you can't leave the country. I don't like posters on here who berate people for overstaying after the fact (when they ask for advice) because it's pointless, but you have asked for advice, been told it's better not to overstay, yet persisted in asking about following a course of action that involves overstaying. At first you said you couldn't leave the country before the 14th March, then, when somebody explained how you could extend your permission to stay until the 14th you started asking about leaving on the 16th. I'm not sure why anybody would want to help you really.

Just send the same documents you have been using.

Well, I've just got back indoors from my trip to the Embassy. Altogether it took me three hours with the traveling through London although it took me just 15 minutes filling in the form, queuing up and putting in my application. I've got to go back tomorrow and collect my passport with the visa in it which is the usual procedure. I'm now good for the next 15 months having 90 day holidays in Pattaya. If I want to stay longer than 90 days on any of these trips I'll have to do a border run but normally after 90 days I've had enough.

I gave the girl behind the window

My passport

Two photos

The 125 quid

The completed application form

A bank statement with a month's payment from my private pension. (I purposefully and out of interest asked her if this would suffice and she said it was OK but next time to bring details of my state pension. I got the impression they were more concerned about the 125 quid than any minor details which suited me fine. But I had a letter from the state pension people in my pocket just in case they decided to be a bit awkward.)

Hopefully this post will be of help to others wanting this type of visa.

I went back yesterday and picked up my passport and visa and everything had gone like clockwork.

For any punters having to go to the Embassy get off the tube at South Kensington, not Gloucester Rd.

Around the corner in Cromwell Place you can get on a bus that drops you off just a few yards from the Embassy. It's the reverse procedure coming back unless you wish to visit some of the finest museums in the world that abound in that vicinity before you head for home.
