No comment on Wilshere's comments about playing for England? I think it is just another footballer speaking without thinking or understanding what they are actually saying and not actually meaning it to come out that way.

Same as I have no comment on the new football media hype around a belgian/kosovo youngster who scored two (2) goals and all of a sudden becomes a new ...........(fill in any superlative),

just because he plays for ManU,

For some reason I found myself commenting on it in the Man U thread - something along the lines that Wenger should be telling him to <deleted>. But Arsene doesn't apparently agree and has said supportive stuff in public. Probably said something in private though.

Pros should keep their Robbie Savage moments for their post retirement meejah careers IMO.

Your Belgium centre back is sounding to happy is he?

Basically saying if he aint in the team by Jan he will be off, good defender and will get in any top teams defence at the moment.

Why do you think he's not first choice? Or is Wenger an idiot? And to that end, no, he would not get in any top sides defense. I think you are confusing the player of two years ago with the current model.

Well the two others are picked before him rolleyes.gif so he is obviously not first choice is he....<deleted> me Carmine get a grip!

I think if you asked most managers they would take him and Spurs would jump for him i am sure,he is a quality CB and would walk into any team in the prem....i am all ears so tell me what is the difference in two years? smile.png

Walcott aint fit to lace Townsend's boots. :D

Looks like Townsend plays better on a bigger pitch Smokie!

Impressive for England. Very impressive for a young boy in fact.

Unusually breathless rubbish for you Smokie. I thought you didn't watch Englandsmile.png. I agree he's a prospect though - seemed to have controlled the wasteful strike urge on cutting inside last night. I was impressed with his stamina levels too.

Walcott has scored some cracking goals for his country too. Having a very fast mobile strike force on the wings to choose from through Baines(best wing performance I can recall in an England shirt!) , Gibbs, Walcott and Townsend could make Brazil a lot more interesting than I ever thought it would be a year ago.

Yes, I don't understand the Vermaelen situation at Arsenal either, Mr Red, but I do trust Bould and Wenger to select the right guys and if they are prepared to take bids at Christmas I would not be rushing to get the cheque-book out if I were you. With Wenger it's all about application, commitment and desire - I assume Thomas has lost it somewhere down the road in the last 18 months, so maybe he does need to change clubs. Seemed to immediately go downhill when he was given the Captain's band. Maybe Chicog has an inside track? Wine, women or white stuff?

It was mentioned in the Belgian press that the betrayal of his best mate at the club (RVP) had a profound effect on him.

This coupled with lingering effects of incorrectly diagnosed and treated injuries, and playing him in a position that was not his forte has put doubts in his mind about the club and his future there.

I would have liked him to be played in the role that Flamini is now thriving in, but hey I'm not Wenger.

Anyway just to tell you it's not wine, women or white stuff that you so eloquently accuse him of bah.gif

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis took a thinly veiled swipe at North London rivals Tottenham by claiming he doesn't consider them to be rivals.

He said: 'Yes there is a poster of Gareth Bale in Times Square, but he no longer plays for Tottenham - he now plays for one of our rivals!'

During the same meeting, manager Arsene Wenger maintained Arsenal are ready to spend big again on buying more world-class talent like Mesut Ozil - but also stressed the club are not about to abandon their long-standing principle of youth development

Yes i thought Gazidis made himself sound like a right d*ck aswell.

Having a pop at Spurs to try and deflect from the obvious contempt that the AGM is showing towards to the opinions of their own fans who are no longer allowed to voice their questions in person opting to have their questions aired on big screens instead.

Injury position not getting that much better:

on Mesut Ozil, who was substituted for Germany on Tuesday...
He is alright. He came back with a knock on the knee but it was just a kick. We’ll have a test tomorrow to see if he is fit enough for Saturday or not. When you have not played, there is always a little doubt but not a major one.

on Sagna and Cazorla…
Sagna is 80 per cent fit and he will have a test. Cazorla is available in training but he is not match-fit. It is just about competitiveness with him. There is a possibility both are in the squad for Saturday. I have not decided whether they will start or not.

on Rosicky and Walcott...
Rosicky is back in the squad and available. Walcott is still two weeks away.

on Sanogo, Podolski, Diaby, Oxlade-Chamberlain...
All of them are out for a longer period.

Diaby will be drawing his pension before he gets regular game time for the Gunners! Doesn't sound like the other 3 will be making a fully fit contribution this side of Christmas either.

Take the above out of the equation even just for a couple of weeks and by my reckoning we have only 5 outfield players you would feel ok about coming on as substitutes, let alone starting:

Monreal

Vermaelen

Gnabry

Whichever two of our seven fit or nearly fit midfielders that happen to be rotated out of the starting line-up.

So, seven games in the next 23 days, including Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Dortmund twice. Our confidence levels are about to be severely tested!

You'd better ask an Arsenal fan and remind yourself where they are in the table. Oh, and read my post again. You've just side stepped answering it with a frivolous comment about others being picked before him.

I'll help you. Wengers picking the players thats are in form, to do the best job for the team. he's picking players on their form Ed, not on how good they were playing twelve months ago

I love it when you go all doom and gloom Santi! biggrin.png

yeah, makes you almost feel at home like you are on the spuds thread, hey smokes ? wink.pngbiggrin.png

And Smokie should know by now that whenever I get pessimistic about Wenger or Arsenal's chances they nearly always prove me wrong!

Anyway shaddup Smokie or I'll launch a "Bring back John Terry for England" threadsmile.png

Looking forward to the visit to your stadium today, Norwich have nothing to lose so I am hoping they will put on a good display at least, and the score does not end up being a battering.

Despite being low league we can play some attractive football these days, I hope Redman gets a game

You played well. Disciplined, but not enough up front.

We did what Man United used to do so well - ruthlessly exploit a tiring team in the last 10 minutes.
