i married my Thai wife 33 years ago in USA. Been living nonstop in Thailand for 25 years but NEVER registered marriage anywhere in Thailand and was never told to.

 

Previously obtained extension of stay based on marriage and showed copy of USA marriage certificate and never had any trouble, last 15 years or so have switched to retirement extension.This is the first I have heard of having to register marriage at Amphur to be legal.

 

Does this mean that in the event of wife's death with No Will that I am not considered her husband for inheritance purposes?
