Public health authorities in Thailand have said that 13 provinces are serious red zones for rabies outbreaks while 42 have been declared less risky with a yellow zone rating.

One of the yellow zones is Nakorn Ratchasima province where rabid dogs or cats have been found in six districts.

These are: Muang district, Ban Leuam, Bua Lai, Kham Talee Sor, Sida and Kham Sakae Saeng. One or two sub-districts have been found to contain infected animals in each of those districts.

Thousands of animals have been given preventative inoculations and been tagged, reported INN.

Leaflets have been handed out to a concerned public that warn starkly in Thai:

Rabies!

Danger - It can't be treated

You'll just die.
