Taiwan Cable Impact Measured

Featured Replies

We all know the internet is super slow right now but I wanted to know how slow.

Internet connections within Thailand are faster than outside so I measured my TOT GoldCyber 1024 on a Saturday afternoon.

I did two speed tests - one to Thaivisa which is in Singapore and not affected by the Taiwan disaster, and one to Palo Alto, CA, USA which is where most of my work is - results speak for themselves, I was quite amazed:

Upload/download Kbps

Thaivisa: 811 / 328 - pretty close to 1024 max. speed, no blaming TOT here.

Palo Alto: 100 / 100, along with a whopping 800ms lag time.

Very interesting, but do we really need another post about the earthquake internet problems.
