Where to find a list of schools offering thai language ed visa in cm (near mae hia)

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone direct me to where I can find a list of schools offering Thai language for the purpose of ed visa. I tried googling but without much luck.

I'm in Mae Hia, so the closer to there the better. Location is most important rather than quality of the course - and yes I'm aware that immigration do test you.

Appreciate any information. Thanks in advance.

The more famous ones are Chiang Mai university and AUA in Chiang Mai.

Forget about Payap university because that's intensive and for really serious students.

Chiang Mai uni is more for slow learners.

AUA is located at Ratchadamnoen road inside city moat.

There is one at Nimman road near Maya shopping mall but I can't remember the name,

Another place called 'We learn Thai' at Chang Klan road.

Whichever suits your location

Could you give me some info why Payap course is intensive? I´d like to learn Thai and currently CMU is on top of the list however the traffic from my place to CMU is really a deal breaker.

The payap one is 3 hours a day 5 days a week. It's much more time intensive and they have something like 8 x 6-week courses and the main purpose is to learn Thai not just to get a visa and the price reflects it also. This is compared to the other ones which are just the minimum number of hours a week and primary purpose is to just get the visa.

It's for serious Thai learners who must learn at a fast pace eg. more for younger foreigners.

If you have trouble with the tones, then YMCA is probably better because I've seen a lot of retirees there who still can't get the tones right even after level 7.  YMCA don't give ed visa though.

If you have trouble going to CMU, then you might consider YMCA (if you don't need ed visa) or AUA (inside city moat)

It's opposite Kad Suan Kaew shopping mall and near Computer City going into the small lanes.

8 Santitham Rd, Tambon Chang Phueak, Amphoe Mueang Chiang Mai
