A video showed the aftermath of a bust on a three story premises in Pattaya Sunday when 17 male and female gamblers were caught playing the dice game Hi-Lo.

Local station chief Aprichai Krobpetch and Bang Lamung district chief Naris Niramaiwong led the military and other agencies in the raid.

Several Hi-Lo tables and associated gaming equipment on the ground floor were taken into evidence along with 10,000 baht, reported INN.

The gamblers - with face masks to protect identities - were led out in a conga and loaded onto pick-up trucks for their trip to the police station.

A man called Wongdech Hirachwisit. 37, admitted that he was in charge of the operation.

Why is this allowed?  I suspect it is to protect the payers of bribes to Pattaya Plod from any investigation.

Wow, professional Hi-Lo tables!

Here they resort to simple plastic sheets and hide out at some shacks in the paddy fields.

Police takes the bribe and leaves them alone.

If police gets aware they will even warn when the military is on the way.

But sometimes the military gets them.

At least those who can not flee quick enough through the shrubs

Off to the courthouse.

1500 Baht.

Didn't that place used to be a big Indian restaurant ?

no matter I'm sure there are many many many more all over the country

why they don't legalise it is beyond me....after all they allow the National Lottery and bets at horse races and boxing matches.

If Thailand legalized gambling Thai people will go broke and that will end up with more killings

Remember Thai people can't even control their egos  so how on earth would they control their gambling

If gambling were legalized, Thailand would obviously increase (in a major way) its revenue from taxation of Casino profits.

Also the gambling industry creates a lot of jobs. And it would be a boon to the cottage industries as well as the transportation, Real Estate and Banking sectors. Thailand would flourish Immensely, in every aspect of life, if gambling were legalized

Also I know that FARLANGS would support the Resort Casino Industry in a major way.

Moreover, Thai people would learn to exercise more self-control over their emotions.

Just look what the Resort Casino Industry did for Singapore and Macao

I can only foresee buckets and buckets of money flowing into Thailand

Also, I strongly disagree with Henrik....I think that more killing, by disgruntled Thais, is a non-issue.

Most Thais are pretty good about losing under gambling conditions.

They have even proven to be gracious for the most part.

Sounds like a Win-Win situation to me.

Even For the TAT

Look at that disappointment when they discovered it wasn't a Connect 4 and darts den.   shucks

On another note... what is up with that S.H.'s helmet?  An optical illusion or something?

It is hardly surprising the perpetrators of real crime seem to carry on with impunity, when the police are fully occupied in such large numbers chasing gamblers.

Where did all the face masks come from?

along with 10,000 baht,

At the -1:56 mark of the video the basket full of money appears to contain much more than 10,000 baht.  Expenses deducted?

Does your post mean I am denied expressing an opinion about one of Thailand's greatest hindrance to progress: the RTP?

I thought it wasnt allowed to carry passengers in the back of a pick up!

You thought wrong

This law lasted just a few days at best during Songkran last year

and has quickly been cancelled: "Thai way of life in travelling"

See The Thai Government has done a flip flop on its law banning the riding in the back of pickup trucks after considering that such riding has become the way of life of Thai people.

Was walking with the missus down a backstreet and came across a large one story anonymous building with folk going in and out. The missus asked one what it was the answer came back - bon or something like that - a casino. Legal casinos with only foreigners allowed to play would be a big boost to Thailand and a way to get more money out of the myriad impecunious Chinses who are flocking here.

I have never known a strategically stimulating gambling game in Thailand, like poker.

Nothing that you can learn and get good at. Always just this "pick a lucky number" type thing.
