Ban Cha Phed! (not Sure Of Spelling!)

My Thai GF was trying to explain a Buddhist practice to me that sounded like Ban cha phed!

She explained many Buddhists go to their temple for days or even months for this. She explained this is particularly important for your 25th birthday!

Please can anyone explain this?
