I love inventing random statistics too.

When you say "usually", how much of that data comes from your happy day dreams?  Have you ever been to the real world, or only in your five-penny cave?

The Putin-bots are out with their fake news again.

  • Russian propaganda.   Other news sources report  out of over 100 cruise missiles  13 were shot down.  That also was from Russia.  The US UK and France has made no reports on what was lost.

That's worth 5p.  You're earning your keep today.

That depends on who you ask.

Very disappointed the Russians didn't go after manned warplanes.

Depending on which report you read , it seems the Syrian anti air did all the work , while the Russians stayed well clear .

Oh my God what do you base that Nonsense on?

From some of the posters comments, I might assume that the Russians have not only penetrated FB, they have also penetrated this forum

I can understand the skepticism.  Doesn't seem so long ago that another US President announced a coalition attack on a despot with illegal weapons.  That hasn't worked out so well.

Naturally. The Russians supplied those air defense systems. Ain't gonna say anything but how wonderful they were.

Another western joke sending a message to Assad and Russians to keep using all kinds of weapons to murder civilian children and their families without using chemical weapons.

Then you obviously never saw CNN presentation during Desert Storm. That went further than propaganda though, as they were transmitting live to strikes taking off for missions against Iraqi forces being watched live in Baghdad as well as in the western world. That BS is what made CNN.

Or the embedded media for the second one going into Iraq. That is how propaganda backfires; underestimating the enemy thinking the war is over after mass troop movements finish, not believing urban & guerrilla warfare would follow.

Altho all war is really hell, it is not specifically banned but the use of chemical weapons is banned by treaty:

"The Protocol for the Prohibition of the Use in War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare, usually called the Geneva Protocol, is a treaty prohibiting the use of chemical and biological weapons in international armed conflicts."

A cruise missile is not rocket powered so the headline is BS....

Well, it isn't powered by a wound up rubber band and a tin propeller. ?

Jet engine or turbo-fan.

As far as I'm concerned Russia can have the middle East and the western world can save millions of $, £ and €.

Money that can be spent on electric cars and power sources that don't need oil.

It will all come back to bite the Russians in the ass as did Afghanistsan.

And forget the UN, just another big waste of money.

Its propaganda time, we wait for the satellite pictures and see what they show.

Alleged chemical weapon use ?

Yes, allegedly alleged chemical weapons factories were targeted in response to alleged use of chemical weapons. I'm waiting for the alleged Bomb Damage Assessment report.

So basically it boils down to choices on what is the best way to kill your enemy/a number of the population.

1. You can drop high explosives that knock down buildings and bury people alive so they can die slowly from their injuries under tons of rubble.

2. You can drop fire bombs so they can burn to death in their own homes/streets probably slowly and in agony.

3. You can straff them with gunfire from planes so they can have a slow painful death from their wounds. Some might be 'lucky' and die instantly.

4. You can use B & C agents that kill them in a minute or so dying in who knows what pain.

Then afterwards you can discuss what % of your weapons were intercepted and shot down.

Edit.

At the end you can claim a 'victory' and claim 'god' was on your side.

Normally I would be in complete agreeance however what else can be done to stop someone gassing children and causing them a gruesome death.  It was not the yanks alone this time either.

Whereas being burned alive or riddled with shrapnel should be rated PG-13?

If you're not willing to do what needs to be done, then do nothing.

If Trump gave them the 3 targets 48 hours in advance so that the personnel wouldn't be killed, you'd think the Russians would have knocked down more than a few of the cruise missiles. They knew the targets and should have known the path of the missiles.

Ctuise missiles can be programmed to fly in various patterns at various heights with sudden changes of direction and altitude. It's really only in the last minute or so they gain height very quickly and dive onto the intended target. Not an easy target to hit in flight. Intercept missiles being smaller have a limited flight time so generally have to be deployed at the last minute close to the expected target and are not generally as agile as the cruise.

UN.  Similar to this.

Russia will do everything within it's means to keep Assad in power in order to hold on to the Tartus Naval base to which it has of 2017 been given sovereign rights to as well as a 49 year free lease... I think Asaad is there to stay.

And Vice Versa and we will never know. Both sides Lie, Lie and Lie again.  Ordinary citizens are, and will be, clueless.  Personally I think it's a set-up of collusion, obfuscation and skulduggery.

Every time Syria begins to 'win' (as it certainly has) something 'happens' to warrant bombing. WHY would Assad do this?  what's to be gained?  and why is this in the USA's, France or UK's interest?  ignore the 500,000 killed by conventional weapons but go all-out bombing over 75 alleged chemical deaths?

"Every time Syria begins to 'win' (as it certainly has) something 'happens' to warrant bombing."

That's nothing but a generalized incorrect statement. There weren't all that many airstrikes aimed directly at the Syrian regime. And these did not necessarily coincide with Syrian regime "wins".

"WHY would Assad do this?  what's to be gained?"

Here are a few options: (a) thought he could get away with it (b) rebels in question surrendered the day after the attack (c) sending a message to other rebel groups (d) signaling that he's still calling (some) shots in Syria (e) the price paid wasn't that high, really.

" ignore the 500,000 killed by conventional weapons but go all-out bombing over 75 alleged chemical deaths?"

Yeah, by all means, ignore many, if not most of them being casualties of attacks by Assad's and Russia's forces. Anything goes for a spin, it seems. Chemical weapons are specifically prohibited by a series of international agreements and law.

Don't see you (and others airing similar positions) going on about such things as the "UN" or "international law" with regard to transgressions carried out by Assad and his supporters (including Russia) during the Syrian Civil War. In fact, don't recall all  that much affront and outrage from your guys over Russia vetoing numerous UNSC resolution proposals dealing with the Syrian Civil War.

Other than the trademark trolling - why would Russia intercept aircraft targeting Syrian facilities without endangering Russian troops (and probably not that many Syrian troops as well)? Them aircraft probably being outside Syrian airspace on top. And disappointed how? That no major direct confrontation between two nuclear powers occurred?
