ear cleaning

I will be in Pattaya  to see a specialist for one condition I have . And also want to get my ears professionally cleaned. I have wax build up I cannot clear myself.

I was wondering if any one knows of a good clinic or hospital that can clean ears.  Has any one had any experiences with this?

Have you tried Hydrogen Peroxide to self clean?

Too much ear wax can affect your hearing and cause dizziness, pain or itching. For mild to moderate amounts of ear wax buildup, you can clean your ears with a hydrogen peroxide solution at home. ... Consult your doctor to determine whether it is safe for you to use hydrogen peroxide to clean your ears.

Generally, your ears make just enough wax to protect the ear canal from water and infection. ... For example, many wax-removing eardrops or solutions are available. These solutions often use hydrogen peroxide to soften the earwax.

Have never tried Hydrogen Peroxide. My left ear has a problem a doctor called water ear. It is very sensitive to fluids so I am not to confident to try fluids right now. But may well do  in the future thank you for that

Problem I find with HP is that it really dries the skin out if you're not careful.  I prefer a decent quality oil then standing in a warm shower after a few days and let the water flush out.  Problem is I think, by the time most folks find they have the need to use such treatments it's already too late as the wax has compacted and hardened too much for them to be effective.  Then it's off the the ENT clinic.

You dilute it. Look on Youtube regarding ears and Hydrogen Peroxide.

Your condition is called 'Swimmers Ear'. And please read this link. https://health.clevelandclinic.org/best-ways-to-steer-clear-of-swimmers-ear-this-summer/

Thank you every one . I will wait and get them professionally cleaned. I just want them so I can hear and not feel plugged up. This morning I cleaned with Q tips used 4 Qtips for each ear and every time the tip was coated and dark brown. It is like this every 2 or 3 days.Starting to get ear aches in right ear. so really need the doctor to take care of it.

I think I will try the Memorial hospital I think it is called.

My very recent experience which might be of interest:

I had what I thought was just ear wax last month, also in Pattaya. My left ear felt blocked and it was difficult to clear by equalising (holding the nose and trying to blow through it)

I treated it with Earol  (link) but it didn't get any better and soon became painful to touch and I was recommended to a clinic on 3rd Road.

The doctor diagnosed an ear infection, gave me anti-biotics and some medicinal drops (Archifen).

I was also given some Sodium Bicarbonate-based drops to keep the wax away. I thought that odd but Google it and you'll see.

The infection cleared up, I finished the ABs and lo and behold, the other ear started hurting. How unlucky is that?

I tried the wax-clearing drops but this was soon before i flew to UK so, as you can imagine I wanted it sorted before flying! Returned to doc who said it was a minor infection, prescribed some different ABs and the same drops. He also agreed to syringe the ear but little came out of it and I'm not entirely convinced that they did it right. Completed the ABs but on my flights I was careful to keep equalising my ears as they didn't feel quite right.

Now, a week later they feel fine but I'm going to my GP this week to get them checked and syringed if necessary.

@lovelomsak As tempting as it is to use cotton buds (QTips) DON'T!  A doctor once told me "Never put anything smaller than your elbow into your ear"

If you have wax in the ear, the buds can compact it, making it worse, plus there is a real danger of damaging the eardrum and/or scratching the inside of the ear canal which in turn may lead to an infection.

Hope it helps.

And there is the reason as to why you have ear problems. Never never never use them to clean your ears. All you are doing is pushing in the wax and compressing it.. Doh.

Some of the barber shops on Soi Bukau have equipment to clean them out. Costs about Bht 70.

Not quite sure I'd trust them to have sterilised the equipment...IF there's an infection present, or if a previous customer had an infection.

Messing up a haircut isn't a big deal but messing up ear cleaning might have consequences.....

Maybe I'm just over cautious?
