Translator rates

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone know what the appropriate rate is for a Thai / English translator? They need to have good language and technical skills in automotive parts.

It's going to be expensive if you want it done properly. The going rate in Bangkok is about 400 baht per page for the simplest translations, such as passports and birth certificates.

For dense, technically specific work you might be better agreeing a flat rate paid weekly in arrears.

Hi blackcab, thanks for the feedback. I apologise as I should have been more specific. The translation will be verbal and I will need this person working alongside me, all day at a client for multiple days. I need to estimate a realistic day rate for the work. sorry for the earlier confusion.

A verbal translator is called an interpreter and there are plenty of adverts for them online which include their rates.

Thanks blackcab, I have identified a retired gentleman with the technical skills but need to get a fix on a realistic fee.
