How did your child / step child get on after schooling

So ok we go to the trouble of trying to find the best school (if one can say that ) so our kids may have the best possibility in the future.

Since we all have different budgetary restraints, how do you reckon your child faired ? ( my lads just changed schools, so will be interesting )

Did they make it to Uni ? ( I've got my doubts about this, as the Degrees may only be good for Thailand ), I'm thinking diversifying in Thec College

What sought of job prospects were acheivable ?

& no doubt the army aspect would of been playing on everyones minds. Looking at the part time school method for this.

Me & a English chap bring these things up every now & then.

He has a Dual Citz lad (mine isn't ) & he plans to put his lad into Uni up in Chaing Mai (I have no idea yet - will no doubt depend on grades & budget )

I mentioned the Uni Degree may not hold up overseas.

Any stories welcomed

Do not get your hopes to high. Degrees just roll out of universities here. Many degrees are just pieces of paper .My wife has 2 degrees never has made more 15,000 baht  a month. I told her stop working why go to work for that.

My stepson graduated from Rangsit university  this year with a degree in Medical Technician. After 4 1/2 years  and  more than 2 million baht spent on his education  he gets a job at his GF mothers hospital working saturday and sunday for 700 baht a day. He makes less than 6000 baht a month.

As far as over seas I am fairly certain a degree will not be recognised.or accepted.

Thanks for the story lovelomsak

Being here on 9 yrs myself (part time ) I have learnt a reasonable amount but am still learning

Your comments make me think  that trying to gain as much knowledge as possible in the Thec colleges would be better that way the lad may be able to have a business & fall back onto companies as well

Was your step son lucky not to draw the ball

Not sure what you mean by drop the ball?  If you can explain I can answer for you.

I will offer my opinion for what it is worth.

I look back and feel the 2 million I spent on getting my stepson a university degree, would have been better spent on him in many ways. I could have simply bought him a house for that amount and he would have been house worry free.for life. At 6000 baht a month salary it will take him a life time plus to buy a house for 2 million.

Or do the Thai business thingy . Were they buy a townhouse live upstairs and have a business downstairs. He could make more money in a small business than he does now as a medical technician. and have his place to live. I could have bought the townhouse and opened a simple noodle shop for less than his degree. Or he could have got a trade at tech college and open his  shop downstairs at the townhouse.

I feel tech is best. A person who is good at their trade can do well . In time can own a shop and have employees no end to what a good tech grad can do.

Ok  I had to ask the wife. I hope I got it straight.

She told me it was 3 years. Mat 4,5 and 6.

One term each year he studied  as usual in the morning and in the afternoon was trained as a soldier by a soldier who came to the school.

So I would say school hours yes. Each year is 2 terms so only studies soldier in one term so half the year did soldier study in the afternoon.
