Hi,

I've been away for a number of years. Now I am discovering that the places where I used to take my dogs for walks are no longer welcoming them.

Huay Tung Tao was the first. Today I added the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek to the list, the guard told me the signs went up yesterday; we were just there a few days back and they told us it was okay then.

I know there is still that big place owned by the university where they grow rice. The (street) dog population has grown and it is no longer as nice, but it is still an option.

Where else can we take Fido?

thanks

  Matt

700 year stadium no dogs

Buakhard Park (@ moat) park no dogs anymore

Last I checked Rama 9 Park was still allowing dogs, but it's a pretty crummy park

Queen Sirikit Botanic Gardens is nice, you can even find some large areas to run where there's no dogs, even no body. Enjoy it while it lasts though, I'm always surprised they still allow dogs there

So I walk the dogs in the moo baan but must keep a large stick in one hand to chase off the neighbors dogs that wanna take a bit outta my pups.

Thank you, I now have two other options to check out.

I also used to take them to the Mae Sa Waterfalls, haven't returned yet, not sure if they do still allow them.

It's hard to find any communities with good grassy areas let alone parks. I am fortunate to live in one that does, but sometimes they need a change of scenery.

After the disappointment at the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek, I dropped by the Serene Lake. It's such a nice community I'm sure the dogs will like.  However, I saw confusing signs posted with the No Dogs logo, but underneath it, the text says "Clean up after your pets". It would be such a shame if dogs weren't even allowed to walk inside your own community!

I've been away for a while but there were two open lots near Infinity Pub/Disco in the Nimmanhaemin area. The lots are east and west of Infinity. Tons of parking around Infinity and accessible from the Canal Road. It's not a pretty place but it's not too bad.

Thank you. I'm going to check that out as well.  The open lots still exist on Google Maps, hopefully they are still there now.

Doi Saket area , plenty of reservoirs to walk around , or the 3 lakes area behind Doi Saket temple.

I love to bring my dog there for a swim.

Good luck

Can you point me to the locations of the lakes and reservoirs? I have driven around that area but did not come across them.

thanks

Some of them attached. Often go further north-east to Huai Hong Khrai (third image).

Last time I tried a year or so ago, they didn't let me in. May have been a one off though.

Thank you, this is very helpful. Some fun time awaits for the dogs ;-)

The second screenshot, i would say Maekuang Dam would be the best one to walk your dog. Great views and large sections of the perimeter are closed to cars and motorcycles. There are packs of feral dogs living there so expect some barking.

Chiang Mai Convention Centre has a large semi landscaped car park and is popular with dog owners late afternoon early evening when there is no exhibition on which is most of the time.

This sounds good. I have driven past it a few times but never got any closer. Will definitely look into it this time.

So when you walk your dog, you have to put it in a car and drive somewhere?

As was mentioned, just walk around wherever you live.

That is not always an attractive option due to strays or residents who don't keep their dogs on their property. Certainly not an option where I live in Doi Saket (And you know where I live Trujillo). I would like also to find a place to walk/run our dogs. Maekuang Dam is probably the best bet as CNXBKKMAN mentioned. The lakes behind the temple never occurred to me as a place to walk dogs. I will have to take a second look at them.

The ICC would be my suggestion too, as well as the jogging/bycicle paths that connect ICC with the 700y area. Mind you, there are many "resident" dogs, they are fed by the guards and are very territorial, I have been attacked once while cycling. You may want to carry a stick.

They still let me in to HTT - no problem walking and it takes a few minutes for a guard to tell you no swimming....

try there again....

shame there is no designated dog park in CM...they need to  move into the 21st century

Try Lucky Dogs otherwise in Doi Saket , they are sponsors of Thai Visa and have plenty of space for your dog to walk.

Its on their website , so surely its possible for some payment.
