I'm living in rural Thailand just outside the village of my partner.   My question is 'is it normal for family and villagers to walk into your home at will and in the case of family to help themselves to drinks from the fridge and if so is this something I have to accept if I am going to continue to live in the same location'?

Have to say it 'bugs' me and I am told the look on my face says it all!!!!

Certainly not with my extended family. They respect my privacy and refrigerator . Next time you go over to their house, help yourself to the most expensive item in the refrigerator, they will get the point.

OP i feel for you, i used to have the same problem, every man and his dog tjhought farangs house lets empty his fridge.

Finally i had enough, now we have 2 meter walls/fences around our home, and i had an electric gate fitted, now the buggers cannot get in, unless myself or my wife opens the gate, problem solved.
