Gen Prawit makes no comment on former premiers and planned demonstration on Sat

BANGKOK, 4th May 2018 (NNT)-Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan today refused to comment on whether there is a connection between this Saturday's demonstration and core members of Pheu Thai Party’s meeting with former premiers Thaksin Shinawatra and his sister Yingluck Shinawatra in Singapore.

The Defense Minister said however, it was no longer against the law for Pheu Thai Party members to travel to Singapore to meet the former premiers as the travel ban imposed on politicians by the National Council for Peace and Order has already been lifted. Gen Prawit didn't say if he thought there was any connection between the planned demonstration of an activist group tomorrow and the recent appearance of Thaksin and Yingluck in Singapore.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the National Security Council, Gen Wanlop Rugsanaoh urged people not to be worried about the demonstration, which will be held at Thammasat University. He also said a crowd control handbook, which was published by the Ministry of Defense and given to security personnel, is only for them to follow as a framework for appropriate action in general.

'Gen Wanlop Rugsanaoh urged people not to be worried about the demonstration'.

He added (I can imagine): 'We are keeping these nasty demonstrators well within the confines of the university grounds. Don't worry: they cannot get out and about and infect other people with their seditious cries for un-Thai democracy and an election this year. These are bad people who do not understand Thai-ness and Thailand. They are still young students, you see - their minds are still immature. Later they will become rational, thoughtful, philosophical and intelligent people like our dear Gen. Prayut and Gen. Prawit. These two great leaders always know the right way to behave and speak. They also know when is the right time to speak and act - especially Gen. Prawit! So don't worry: your Government will protect you from these trouble-makers. Stop up your ears and don't listen to their nasty, vicious words. You will be safe - and you will be a good Thai!'

Agree. I think the low-angle shots stem from the fact that the reporters and photographers are literally grovelling - worming and squirming - on the ground before these august personages!

General Prawit was saying to the Thai people in disguise. Don't worry about this demonstration because we have a battalion of soldiers all armed with live bullets and a few armoured personnel carriers close by to keep an eye on things and if things get nasty we all know what will happen don't we? After all, we are a free democratic and peace-loving nation. That is why we are called LOS

We will protect you from the forces of freedom, opportunity and fun.  We have more than enough wet blankets to go around.

Thaksin and democracy - now's there's an oxymoron.

If I see that that mentally retarded toad one more time I will 'upchuck' with a vengeance.

What is the average Thai IQ again?Yeah..89...and that was with the wind blowing in the right direction...

General Prawit makes no comment on former premiers and planned demonstrations on Saturday, goes home, kicks the cat and throws his supper across the kitchen...

They're obliged to sit down while taking photographs, otherwise they would tower above Mr Piggy and he would lose face as a consequance. Can't have that nossir.

Sometimes they get their ears scratched/stroked whilst down there groveling.

Right, Johng! I will never forget seeing Prayut stroking that grovelling (literally - on his knees) male reporter's head (note male - ref. all the current hypocrisy about gay marriage not being 'right for Thailand', coming from the dinosaurs) and fondling the guy's ear repeatedly. It was bizarre. And no one said a word or resisted!

With a supine populace like this - it is so very, very easy for the military junta to slash and burn all human rights and liberties on a daily basis, and to do so with impunity.
