A US businessman has lost Bt200,000 in cash he left on the ground in a carpark after withdrawing it from a bank inside a Surin shopping mall and loading goods into his car on Wednesday evening.

Police are now looking for a male cleaner who was responsible for the section of the carpark at the Robinson shopping mall in Surin’s Muang district. The worker sought permission to leave and rushed home shortly after the Merrick Jerkinston (not official spelling), left the mall.

The 75-year-old businessman and his Thai wife returned to the mall at 4.15pm to file a complaint with the security officials of the mall. The security division then alerted the Muang Surin police station to conduct an investigation.

The businessman said he withdrew the cash and carried it in a paper bag while shopping with his Thai wife but forgot about the package when unloading goods from the mall’s cart to his car.

Police checked security camera footage of the mall and saw the man carry his cash bag out of the mall and to the car park. But the view of his car was blocked by a mall pillar, and his actions at the car were not captured by the camera.

The head of the cleaning division of the mall told police that a male staff, who was responsible for the area, sought permission to rush home at that time and could not be contacted so far.

Wouldn't you put 200,000 baht into your car immediately? Leaving it on the ground while you loaded your car sounds suss to me.

Forgot about the 2000.000 baht he was carrying, if i was carrying that amount of cash my eyes would never leave it even for a few seconds.

Exactly what is the complaint, the way i see it the bloke is a half wit and that should be the only issue at that time.

As a professional "cleaner" he will not have a problem at all to make this money invisible.

Most likely we would but age can be rather unforgiving at times.

The Cleaner" I ran home because I was feeling very ill I had to lay down and take a rest No I did not come across any money Why?"

No bigger fool as a young fool thinking nothing like an old fool.

Foolishness seems to exist in all age groups.

What makes you think I am a "young" fool ... heh

The sad thing is if you live here you see this stuff all the time.  In ways he is lucky its only 200,000 Baht. It could be much worse and far more final.

Perhaps it was all set up with the 25 year old wife and her local boyfriend ?! :whistling:

I won't be to hasty to get nasty on the poor old chap loosing his cash, as I'm not sure in what mental condition many posters here would be, or are,  in that age group !!

Hope the ca$h in recovered and the thief gets a good pounding in jail.
