A driver was saved in time from a fire that broke out after his pickup truck crashed into a roadside drainage pipe and overturned in Roi Et province on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened on the Chaturaphak Phiman-Roi Et Road in Ban On village in Tambon Hua Chang, Chaturaphak Phiman district.

Fire-fighters took about 15 minutes to put out the fire. They pulled the driver, Adisak Namkhote, 31, out and rushed him to the district hospital. He suffered minor burns from the heat.

A witness, Somsak Sonsaeng, 54, said he heard a loud sound and came out of his construction materials shop to find a pickup had overturned on the roadside.

Somsak said the fire was starting and he heard the driver’s cries for help so he called the fire station of the tambon administration, which dispatched a fire engine to put out the blaze in time.
