Bangkok police have arrested a woman for having allegedly lured 200 victims into buying vehicle insurance, but then embezzling their money.

Pol Colonel Pornsak Laorujiralai, an officer at the Metropolitan Police Bureau, told a press conference on Tuesday that Juthapas Angkarp, 37, had been arrested at a condominium car park in Chon Buri’s Mueang district on Monday.

Pornsak said some 200 victims from around the country had jointly filed a complaint with police that they had been cheated by Juthapas out of vehicle insurance premiums ranging from Bt10,000 to Bt25,000.

The suspect was accused of having deceived her victims since 2015.

She allegedly telephoned her targets in order to get them to buy insurance through her, with the promise of a discounted premium and a gift of a camera or smartphone.

They were all then unable to contact Jutaphas after transferring the money to her account.

She is wanted under six warrants, two of them issued by Chiang Mai Court and one each by the courts of Buri Ram, Maha Sarakham, Chiang Rai and Loei.

That's a good scheme until one of them has a serious accident.

Basicly she's the same as other car insurances. Only she gets caught.

Lock her up!  A message needs to be sent.  Chonburi?  What a surprise.

Sorry to spoil the party.
My car insurance is not cheap, does not promise gifts but each year hands out a very useful paper calendar, and pays damages to the vehicle.
They sent inspectors to incident sites rather quick, and collect money when other party is guilty.
Moreover, after reasonably questions being asked, repairs damages caused by others on parking lots as well.
No complaints here !

Exactly what happened to me in Panama, a well known Insurance salesman had been scamming the American community for decades, selling insurance from a US based company,  I hd a major accident, totaled my vehicle and he got caught because I made the claim directly with the Company.  When I have made the claim they had no record of him or my policy..........he was caught convicted and jailed in Panama.   He must have sold hundreds of bogus policy's before he got caught.........my friends (all policy owners also scammed)took up a collection and gave me enough to pay off the car.  They demised that whenever someone had an accident, he would take care of it himself, but in my case, he had no chance since I filed in the US.?

Happens more often than people think.

We had the same problem here, paid insurance agent for house insurance, 11 months later i contacted the company for insurance renewal, and guess what, sorry you are not insured with us.

Hello i have a receipt and insurance docs, not from us they said.

Good Lord,    That's a lot of people at a meeting regarding a single crime.

The things people will do just for a free gift.....Nothing more expensive than free.
