I know that mine rescue experts have a way of drilling a 24" shaft that they can lift a man out using a sort of torpedo elevator car on a cable. Seems to me in this case they are likely much closer to the surface than a mine rescue situation would be and they might drill down to them in less than 12 hours if they already have the equipment in place. Actually, now that I see the video of them moving around rather energetically for someone gone for days without food, I think maybe they're in better shape than many expected, including those who wrote it would take a while before they were strong enough to get them out with scuba gear. I expect they'll be out in another day either way.

Popular Post hgma
Unbelievable calm, as i saw the first footage of a British diver who was the first to find them.......how many days are we here. one asked.......they seemed ready to go home, but that will take a while, now enjoy the good news and send huge thank you to all Thai AND Foreign teams who made this possible. Whichever route is chosen, I'm sure they and their coach will handle it like the troopers they are. We TVFers who hung in there with them and never gave up will be glued to our screens until they see sunlight (or rain) again. What a happy day this is. I salute all national and international rescuers, Thailand and most of all, these tough kids. 3

And...congratulations and thanks to all those who helped finding and rescuing them! Are Thai TV reporting that 4 hours ago, wanderluster said: fantastic news... great on the person /people who decided that pattaya beach was the best spot. ok they had moved 400m from that but it was the right way to go. If the news is right that a team of SEALS went beyond where they were supposed to go, to find these kids, kudos to them.. but rumor not proved true yet. true heros to all that gave their all to help in this situation. And even more so to the boys and their coach for maintaining their cool and doing what was nessicary to just stay alive and not panick. hope you all get rewarded as you deserve Everybody involved deserves credit for finding these boys, but with heavy rain forecast, it may be a while before they are fully out of the cave. If you read the story you would be forgiven for thinking this is all down to Thai Navy Seals, but are any Thai stations reporting that they were led there by the British cave divers? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5910069/Missing-12-boys-football-team-coach-ALIVE-cave.html A transcript of the conversation between rescue divers and the trapped children revealed the youngsters had no idea what day it was or how long they'd been missing. Rescuer: How many of you? Children: 13 Rescuer: 13? Brilliant! Rescuer: There's two of us....we had to dive. Rescuer: We're coming, it's ok. Many people are coming. We are the first. Children ask what day it is Rescuer: Monday. One week and Monday. You have been here 10 days. You are very strong, very strong. Rescuers urge them to go back from edge of water. Divers then swim over to their side. Rescuer 2: That is just the most amazing timing. Children: What day you come help me? Rescuer 1: We hope tomorrow. Rescuer 2: Navy Seals will come tomorrow with food, doctor and everything. Today you have a light? We will give you more lights. A lot of rummaging around and darkness. Rescuer 1: We are happy too (in response to inaudible comment Children: Where you come from? Rescuer 2: England, UK 5

Hope he acknowledges it. Of course Arandora, I’ll acknowledge your reply. My message was meant to illustrate that there are so many people who have contributed to this operation. The last thing I wanted to do was to belittle or denigrate the efforts of the English guys who got to the boys first. They have obviously brought their experience, their equipment and probably been great leaders. But so many other people have contributed to this with their own expertise and knowledge in so many other areas. And those who don’t have skills which can be of immediate use, have given their pure hard graft. A thousand people above ground – two guys underneath. They didn’t do it all by themselves - regardless of their nationality. Edited July 2, 2018 by PhilAtUbon 1
9505robin
It seems as though the adults that took the boys in should be given medals! They obviously had prepared well. I teach survival and anyone doing things like ths should always be prepared for emergencies. They did a very good job taking care of those boys! Everyone should learn from this experience! Job well done on the tasks needed to the rescuers in working out the rescue! 1

Popular Post greenchair
I am glad to say that I am ashamed that I had given up on day 7. Who would think that 13 people could get that far. The coach is a hero. He obviously did all the right things. It's not over yet. Now they have to get them out before the monsoon rains start. Amazing. a miracle. Well done to the brit that went further and found them. Well done thailand. 5

Huge error of judgment taking them in there in the first place, but on the other hand he deserves credit for having found them a safe haven and keeping them alive and presumably keeping up their spirits.
Popular Post UglyBug
Great news I have been Hoping and Praying every day for this result hopefully they get them out off the cave safely God & Buddha Bless the Rescuers ! I personally think all who decried the rescuers and their attempts , their practising the recovery operation and worse ! stated that the team were already dead , kidnapped and all the other drivel should hang their heads in eternal shame. 3

Catoni
“...doctors with high diving skills...” I don’t know...I think I’d much rather have doctors with SCUBA diving skills rather than high diving skills. Good to hear the kids and coach are going to be okay.
Damrongsak
Wonderful! And they seemed to be in good spirits and good shape from the video where the Brit divers encounter them. Now rescuers can stop tripping all over each other looking anywhere and everywhere. Perhaps a smaller team can concentrate on the delicate task of transporting these kids back to the surface. Thaijack2014
I'm so glad. Lately this was the first thing I was looking up. 9 Days and nights in the dark cave. Praise to all people who helped in finding the boys. I'm happy for them and for the families who must have suffered a lot. Now I'm saying what I thought all along: this is movie-stuff... Once they get out and are safe. I hope that there is going to be a movie about them, the way it happened, the water rising, the fears, hopes, the darkness, the rescuers. It deserves a movie to tell the story to the world!
