Following on from the previous video, a 1912 Indian Single and a 1913 Indian Twin.  Gorgeous bikes:

Great looking old bikes. I will probably show my total ignorance but the twin seems to have drive chain on either side of the back wheel. Can some one explain it to me please.

Not the same bike, but the same setup.  The right hand chain is connected only to the pedals, allowing the bike to be ridden like a bicycle.  The left hand chain is connected to the drive sprocket, via the left hand pedal, for motorised propulsion - capable of exceeding 100mph.  The pedals can also be used to bump start the bike.  So, these are probably the best looking mopeds ever built.  (This one is a 1912 model, and sold for USD253,000 in 2019, probably making them the most expensive mopeds ever built as well.)

Note the complete lack of brakes, which is similar to modern speedway bikes.  In fact, these Indians only have two controls, and neither of them is a throttle.  The speed is controlled by a spark advance lever, controlling the point at which the spark plugs fired, thus accelerating or slowing down (assisted by putting your feet down on the boards) the bike.  The other control is an engine kill switch to turn it off.  Apparently, those short pipes meant riders would get often get still burning petrol spewed over their right legs if they got the spark advance wrong.  Respect for the riders!  Not only balls of steel, but great balls of fire too.

From Russian tanks to Russian motorcycles ,hardly bike porn ,more like a Russian shot putter .

The design come from the late 30's  650cc  BMW R71 sidecar bike  ,at the time the Red Armies bikes where not good ,so after a lot of talking (and vodka) ,5  BMW's  R71's ,vie an Swedish intermediate come to Russia ,with some revered engineering  done in  early 1941, the  first M-72 was shown to Stalin .

A total of 9799 where produced during the war ,by 1950 30 000 had been produced ,they were exported at first from 1973 -1979 .

In 2003 with a re disigened crank and a longer stroke  the engine become a 750cc ,done for the USA market

A friend of mine brought one must have been 1978 known as a Cossack in the UK ,the first thing we said when he got it was where is the machine gun mounts ,they were still sold in the UK with the chair on the right ,he got on all right with it ,sold it after a couple of years  and got a Gold Wing with a chair on it ,

I can remember at the Time Bike magazine tested one ,after all the testing on the big 4' s bikes, and offerings from Germany and Italy ,they were not that complementary ,one thing I can remember was the tool roll you got with the bike ,enough spanners to take the bike apart beside the road ,which most people said you needed with break downs ,but my mate said his was good no problems,

They are still made .now with leading link front suspension and a  driven side-car wheel.

They are something of beauty in these board track bikes ,this one is a 1915 Cyclone ,with an OHC engine way ahead for the time .

This one was sold for $852 000 in 2015,the second most expensive motorcycle ever sold ,maybe the fact Steve Mc Queen use to own the bike might have helped

I had to look up the most expensive one, which, as of January 29 2020, is a 1951 Vincent Black Lightning, raced by Aussie legend Jack Ehret.

Never saw a lion but I saw monkeys. Also saw two bikes crisscrossing and a go-cart on the wall at the same time, with a girl driving the cart.  Motordromes or  "The Wall of Death" were very popular in the US. I worked for a carnival from '76-'88 and the show I worked for had one. Saw the "Globe of Death" a few times booked in as well.

I'm sure there are a few still operating if you have an interest, they are (or at least were) always hiring...

Or confirm it on the interweb before asking a rhetorical question?

The story i heard exposed this story as a fake. The "stranded" guy claims to have put this contraption together by himself , in the middle of nowhere. It was later found to have been welded together in his garage , as witnessed by a neighbour. 2cv,s didnt come with welding equipment as an option. I dont know if anybody can shed any further light on this.

In the pic with the car body, it looks like there's a motorcycle parked in the background.

Another angle.  A 37mm antitank gun.  Apparently, the bike is a Harley Davidson on lend lease to the Soviets.  The wheels on the back may have been to help manoeuvre the gun when not mounted to the sidecar.

'42 Harley WLA 750 as supplied to Russia by the U S via the lend lease scheme and looking at the size of that gun it would probably need something with a bit of grunt to move it so you could be right there B P ..

2 and 3 are Harley's take on the flat twin ( think Dam' put this up recently ) ..

Russian mobile heavy mortar teams used combos to shoot and scoot ..

BMW R75 combo with the fearsome gpmg fitted ..

Back to bikes and guns, with 'staches thrown in as well for good measure.

The South Africa Defence Force had a bike mounted "South West Africa Specialist Unit", which served in the Namibia independence war. The photo is a member of the squad in Namibia around 1980, equipped with an R1 rifle and riding what appears to be a modified Honda XL350, fitted with a bigger tank for extra range:

Bike was totaled, I didn’t get a scratch....
