NoshowJones Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 Most times, not all, this notice comes up when I try to download episodes of the Australian drama "Prisoner Cell Block H. Never at any other time. "The server replies that you don't have permission to download this File". Details http/1.1 403 forbidden. This has only started within the last two weeks, I can download, using IDM, then the notice comes up, I can try again with the same file and sometimes it is OK. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
Crossy Posted July 8, 2018 Posted July 8, 2018 I would normally reply that you are being blocked by the server geolocation software (you're outside Oz or wherever). But it working "sometimes" is odd, maybe you get a new IP that's not blocked. A VPN should remove the issue. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

I am a bit ignorant when it comes to VPNs, all I know is I cannot use Netflix on my Opera browser when the VPN is on. I cannot see how anything can be blocked as about 50% of the time it is fine. May I also point out that this happens no matter what browser I use, and on both my desktop and laptop.

It seems to be an IDM problem that can be fixed by installing a newer version and cleaning the cache. I get the error 403 when trying to buy something off Lazada, I did do an google search and it said change your IP Address, where do you get a new IP address from. I am wondering whether it's slowing ThaiVisa down, every half a dozen messages I have to reboot or else it just freezes up.

You can try re-booting your router and hope you get another external IP, or, more reliable, use a VPN. You can check your extenal IP address here http://ipaddresslocation.org also handy to check the VPN is working. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Please see: http://www.appsforwin10.com/how-to-fix-internet-download-manager-error-403-bypass-file-download-restriction/ I have used Firefox for Netflix and it was OK ditto Edge. my default browser is Opera, which I find easily the best. Although I can download movies from ie, 123movies on Opera with IDM, Opera does not let me use IDM with Youtube. I have done what is on your link, but still only works about 50% of the time with IDM when downloading episodes of Prisoner. It is fine downloading anything else.

Hi Crossy, rebooted the router and it came back with a different IP address, the last number changed from a 6 to a 4. But just tried Lazada and its just the same. ?

Try again but make a coffee before turning back on again. These blocks that don't function properly are annoying, I tend to do everything via my VPN, if a geo-block pops up I just change country. 1 "I don't want to know why you can't.
