BANGKOK, 9 July 2018 (NNT) – The Ministry of Tourism and Sports has instructed all Tourist Assistance Centers (TAC) nationwide to always be prepared for emergencies.

Tourism and Sports Ministry Permanent Secretary Phongphanu Svetarundra disclosed that he convened an annual meeting for 200 officers from TACs nationwide to establish understanding of their roles, missions and duties to help rehabilitate foreign tourists who suffer from tourism accidents in Thailand.

He instructed them to always be prepared to accommodate tourists and cooperate with the relevant agencies.

He called on them to be a good host, facilitate both Thai and foreign tourists and work harder in monsoon season when accidents might possibly occur.

Idea for goverment is to offer 90-Day Rescue Visa year around for "Rescue Tours". Between the deadly roads, seas, electrocutions and balconies, marketing rescue tours could be a great way to cash in.

Good question. They appear to come under the Ministry of Sports & Tourism.

I see that according to the Pattaya Mail: "To file a report or seek assistance, contact the TAC Call Center at 02-134-4077 24 hours a day."

Ok, I won't make stale "Thailand: Hub of Emergencies" quip. I promise.

They are located near the gate. They have a knack for closing that gate, after the horse has bolted!

Judging from all the deaths of foreign tourists in Thailand waters, maybe some floating TAC platforms offshore.

That's almost a literal translation of their name.

Thank goodness for this move. I can finally have a good nights sleep knowing Thailand is headed in the right direction.

The hills are alive to the sound of stable doors slamming all over Thailand. Too little too late as usual.
