All those rescuers and sipoort staff have been champs and all need formal recognition some day.

 

Well done to all, including the 13 gutsy survivors, who proved they arent victims

It is, for the Thai seals, a steep learning curve.

Hope they will continue learning cavediving from the Masters.

These people are very much needed.

The Thai army/navy should send these guys out to train.

Almost 3 weeks with horror and 3 historic successfully rescue days seems to have come to an end and will never be forgotten...

Here's just a little poem I wrote . . .

 

There once was a football team

That entered a cave to dream.

They woke with a fright

When drips in the night

Forewarned of the coming stream.

 

Their families looked around

But nowhere could they be found.

The bikes at the cave--

Now blocked by the wave--

Showed where they had last been bound.

 

The world soon learned of their fate

And rushed to not be too late.

The experts came in--

By troop and by kin--

To save them without debate.

 

Their help was met with success

In spite of the rainy mess.

The players dove out

Through perilous route--

Their joys published in the press.

 

One lesson is clear to all

Each one should answer the call

To help one in need

With skill and with speed

When some great trouble befall.

This world is crazy.

 

We just had a visit from the village head complete with a bottle of "alcoholic beverage". 

 

"Angrit number one, thankyou". The fact that I don't dive and we're nowhere near Tham Luang made no difference whatever, "Angrit find boys, Angrit number one". He just wanted to thank the only Brit he knows.

 

So here we are with a glass (or more) of "alcoholic beverage" with ice and soda toasting every single member of a truly international rescue team (cue Thunderbirds music).

 

And why the flip is this miserable old git tearing up?

 

 

I wrote this in the previous thread. The arrival of Hollywood prompts me to copy it here:

 I hope that there is thought going into their post extraction rehabilitation. Not so much their experiences in the cave but rather dealing with the intense attention they will get, young footballers one day and 'heroes' the next along with photo ops with every tom Dick and Harry along with intense public pressure.

 

Time to remember they are 13 young people now thrust blinking literally and metaphorically into the limelight. Time for understanding.

It was reported earlier that a "Hollywood producer" had arrived and was promising that "A List" stars would appear in the movie.
Turns out, the guy is from a Christian film company that produces blockbusters like "God is (not) Dead", "God is (not) Dead 2" and the thriller "God is (not) Dead - A Light in the Darkness" along with a bunch of other "straight to video" Christian themed movies.

No doubt he is hoping that the words "Hollywood Producer" and "A List stars" will awe everyone and grant him exclusive access.
