Bangkok, 09 July 2018 – Over 3,000 cyclists of all ages and rider levels, will come together for the return of Bangkok Bank CycleFest 2018, building on its huge inaugural outing last year. The event will be held from 24-25 November, 2018, at the Siam Country Club Pattaya.

A cycling and lifestyle event that celebrates the joy of mobility on two wheels with its “Ride for All” concept, this year’s Bangkok Bank CycleFest will see riders take part in a wide range of dynamic and inclusive ride categories over the two event days.

Ranging from individual timed rides, a challenging off road ride, a fun ride to team time trials, there is definitely a ‘Ride for All’. There will be plenty to do off the saddle in Festival village area, including a variety of activities, outlets and eateries. Friends and families of riders can explore and enjoy the wealth of activities accompanying 2018’s rides.

The event prides itself on allowing riders of all abilities the opportunity to experience competing on a quality road closed circuit held amidst some fantastic scenery that completes the experience, all for an affordable price.

Sponsored by Bangkok Bank, CycleFest 2018 also places a focus on community and aims to raise funds for the event’s official charity. That charity is the Father Ray Foundation based in Pattaya which takes care of 850 orphaned, abused and disadvantaged children and students with disabilities.

The event will donate all the entry fees from the Fun Ride to the Farther Ray Charity and riders signing up for the festival can choose to make a further contribution.

Dr. Thaweelap Rittapirom, Director and Executive Vice President of Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, said, “Bangkok Bank as a Title Sponsor is delighted to continue to support the Bangkok Bank CycleFest 2018 into its second year, as a part of our corporate social responsibilities aimed at enhancing life quality and the sustainability of society. The inaugural run-out last year was one of the most exciting calendar events to occur in Pattaya during all of 2017. The program makes such a great contribution to the sense of community spirit, as well as allowing people of all ages to experience the thrill of racing. This year, we have also added a new “Off Road Challenge” category to the festival which we believe will add even more fun for participants”.

Bangkok Bank CycleFest 2018 offers seven different rides for cyclists of all ages and abilities on 12-62 km of fully closed-road circuits around Siam Country Club. Organized by IMG, a global leader in sports the festival promises to deliver a great experience with an emphasis on enjoyment both pre and post your ride.

Pochanee Kongkalai, Executive Vice President, Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited said, "On behalf of Bangkok Bank Cycling Club, we are proud to be part of the Bangkok Bank CycleFest 2018 again. This activity helps to improve health and strength in the body in accordance with our main policy to support and promote the health of Thai people. I believe that this year's contestants will compete more competitively and experience even more fun than last year. Moreover, there are many interesting activities at the event that will give entrants and guests an impressive experience for both cyclists and their accompanying groups.

Adding his support to the mass participation event is former professional rider and six time Tour de France stage winner from Belguim, Tom Boonen. The star athlete competed as a professional between 2002 and 2017 for the U.S. Postal Service and Quick-Step Floors teams.

Tom Boonen says, “I am pleased to support this superbly inclusive cycle festival as an ambassador for this, the 2nd year of Bangkok Bank CycleFest in Thailand. We have seen continuous growth of the cycling sports across the world - in Europe, which was already highly developed as a cross-border cycling community, but especially here in Asia. It is also important that we can help ensure that all cyclists, both amateur and professional riders, are correctly educated about cycle safety – a particular issue when considering road safety environments such as Thailand where there is room for improvement. This of course requires all parties and communities to help provide a safe cycling environment on the roads. This is how we are best able to support everyone who wants to get active and improve the lives of people”.

Other ambassadors for the race include actor Nut Devahastin Na Ayudhya and VarnVarn Aroonnapa Panichjaroon. The group of Bangkok Bank executives, together with the celebrities, aim to drive the charity aspect of the event, as well as encouraging their colleagues to saddle up and enjoy the ride.

Mr. Robbie Henchman - Senior Vice President, International Strategic Partnerships, Endeavor said, “With a great start in 2017, we look forward to building on that momentum for an even bigger and better Bangkok Bank CycleFest in 2018. The support of Bangkok Bank and all the sponsors is crucial to the success of the event and we thank them for their continued support this year as we gear up once again to offer cyclists of all ages and abilities a safe and beautiful setting to ride in.”
