KANCHANABURI, 23 July 2018 (NNT) – Kanchanaburi province held the second public forum on the submission of the Death Railway to be included on the UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage sites.

The Governor of Kanchanaburi, Narong Rakroi, on Sunday (July 22nd) presided over the opening session of another public forum held to gather people's input on the submission of the Death Railway into UNESCO's World Heritage tentative list at River Kwai Hotel, Kanchanaburi.

Khun Sirikitiya Jensen, the daughter of Princess Ubolratana, also attended this crucial forum.

The forum was held to take into consideration the opinion from people who would be involved and affected from the enlistment of the Death Railway into UNESCO's World Heritage tentative list.

The forum featured a lecture by ICOMOS Thailand's President Bowornvej Rungrujee on the historical aspects of the railway, the legacy of the World War II, the significance of world heritage status and its effect, and conservation practices to preserve the values of the site.

The forum was attended by 450 people in four districts along the Death Railway.

Haven't been near it since I had to pay a higher entrance charge to the museum than my Thai wife.

Money's god to this nation, they don't give a toss about those who died.

Sir Rod Beattie told me several years ago that he would only run the museum at the War Memorial if it was only one price. This has changed or you visited another place.

Pathetic- how much was the difference ?

Have you ever thought that there is just a slightly different level of income in Thailand?

So now you don’t care either - just for the sake of a dual price warrior - I don’t believe it - it’s the oldest most boring , repeated comment - move on.

Visit the Commonwealth cemetery- all those Portland stone gravestones - it’s FREE .

Moving experience- go for Remembrance Day - oh you might have to pay more for a wreath ?
