Video: Kalasin cops take down Ya Ba guy armed with a stick - but there are laughs all round

Muang district cops rushed to Theenanon Road where there were reports that a young Thai man was going berserk in the central reservation with a metal pole. 

 

It took several officers the best part of half an hour to persuade the man to give up his weapon and submit. They used some now familiar poles themselves to ensure no one was hurt.

 

Upon arrest he proudly announced his name, address and serial number....well, ID number. 

 

Then he said: "I'm not mad". 

 

Thatchai Phai-um, 25, admitted to cops later that he had taken Ya Ba.

 

He believed that an evil spirit was chasing him and grabbed the pole to protect himself. 

 

Officers at the station laughed when Thatchai said to the cops:

 

"Don't you remember me? We went to the cock fighting together".
