I was in P-lok yesterday and was surprised at all of the new house boats/shops/restaurants on the Nan River.  I could be wrong; but I remember reading somewhere years ago that this was illegal. For a long time there has only been a handful of floating restaurants allowed (according to one owner), but now they are popping up and down the river like fishing bobbers.

Usually, I am fairly good at sussing out the legalities in Thailand but this one has me sunk. Anyone, have any information about this?
