Hello, guys!

Interested in knowing what sights there are to see there, recreation, best restaurants, etc.

Anyone know anything about Toon Khun Hotel? I'm a simple man with simple needs. Just looking for a safe, clean and inexpensive place with a private hot shower.

Where's the best/closest place to go overnight from Udon Thani before my 30-day stay expires?

Any help is appreciated! :o

Never heard of the Hotel what price range are you looking for?

What kind of activities are you interested in?

Udon is pretty central to Korat, Khan Kaen, Louie, Nong Khai really depends on what you want to do.

Try definning things a bit and you may get a little more help just a thought. Genreally Udon is not a tourist town but there are things to do here if look for them.

At last count 19 farrang resturants in town, golf, bowling, tennis fishing and tour riding avialable. More bars Thai and farrang that I car to think about. If I can help I would be gald to but give me a better idea as to what you want to do.

Thanks, Ray!

Well, let's see ... sight-seeing, people watching, sports activities, public markets, malls, etc. I am just interested in seeing Thai culture in that area.

As for restaurants, I'm looking for good Thai food in a casual atmosphere.

As for the hotel, I guess I'm looking for something not more than about 1400-1500 Baht, but I've stayed in some very clean and safe places for less than that.

Any help is appreciated! :o

Charoen is a really nice place 900 baht a night, swimming pool, disco and live music across the parking lot, two blocks from the mall. as I recall that includes breakfast in the morning. They have driver named Twan, great guy speaks english the last I heard you can get him and his car for 1000 baht a day plus gas.

I don't know what cultural events are scheduled for March but it's Thailand something will be going on.

Robinson mall is great for people watching that the two block walk, across for that is what is known a farrang alley you can always find people to talk to there It's a watering hole consisting of about 12 bars. There is a bowling alley in Robinsons.

Golf the guy to check on that one would be Harry's bar, he is fairly active in that circle. Tennis got me I just know it's around.

Ban Chaing would be a good one to check out got a dig there dating back several thousand years. Erawan cave in another good one. Loiue yuo can see some really beautiful mountains and even do a winery tour.

When you get to town ask around for a Udonmap, a freebie from Udonmap.com. It has many places listed and is about the best map of udon you can find. If you can get on the site the map is on there as well might give you some good ideas.

The Maekong rvier at Nong Khai is not far away and you can at least get a look at Lao. To cross the bridge is about thirty bucks for a visit to Lao. Might be worth a night there Lao was controlled by the French for years and has French influenced resturants

Thai resturants I wouldn't even know where to begin there are so many. One that stands out to me is along the water at Nom Prajek Park, but for the life of me I can't recall the name.

The Night Market is another good place for people watching just about any of these places in town should not be more then a 100 baht Tuk Tuk ride.

Almost frogot here is Chinese Wat very close to all of this where they teach dragon dancing and it's fun to watch them practise.

There is also a Museum.

The Charoen does offer a pick up service at the airprt.

Just about any Hotel here in Udon will be in that price range, some a lot lower.

Hope that helps.

Ton Koon Hotel is on Markhaeng Road near the Udon Hotel. It is a Chinese hotel. It has a rooftop restaurant, karaoke bar, massage parlor, etc. More info can be found on the udonmap.com website.
