Phuket lucky licence plate auction opens with 8899 sold for B180k

PHUKET: The annual auction of specially designed Phuket licence plates with lucky numbers in the ’กษ’ (KS) series began at The Metropole Hotel in Phuket Town, with first license plate being sold for B180,000.

 

Department of Land Transport Deputy Director-General Jongrak Kitsamrankhun presided over the opening ceremony, accompanied by Capt Boworn Phromgaewngam Deputy Director of the Phuket branch of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC).

 

Also present among the more than 100 participants at the auction was Phuket Land Transport Office (PLTO) Chief Banyat Kantha, who explained that event was the 13th time the DLT had arranged such auctions across the country, including in Phuket.

My favorite number is 8777.  It's not lucky, as in Thai language it sounds like what happens when you get the runs.  (BAT, jet, jet, jet.) But it does come up all the time.

Better to take the 180 thousand baht (CA$7214) and take some driving lessons, (speed limits, lane driving, following distance, car maintenance, etc.)  - put your faith in skill, don't rely on luck!

If only thais were as obessesed about removing garbage and plastics,saddly we see were their pryorities lie...Mabey they are praying for a cleaner enviorment...

I don't get this obsession lucky numbers - well I don't share it anyway - but if the money is used as quoted, why worry.

The only 'lucky' people are the people selling to all the imbeciles who pay for believing in codswallop or those that love to be 'posers'; and we know Thai's just love to pose !

Should have better invested in PREVENTING road accidents.
But this is Thailand. Think about it after it happened...

Phuket licence plate auction raises over B22mn

PHUKET: An auction of special licence plates held over the weekend raised almost B23 million for the national Road Safety Fund, which stages road-safety campaigns and provides support for victims of road accidents.

 

The auction, held at Metropole Hotel in Phuket Town on Saturday (Sept 8 ) and Sunday (Sept 9), raised B22,968,132.

 

Up for auction were car-registration plates with the Thai letters ‘KorSor’ (กษ).
