Looking for walking cane

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm looking for a bent wood walking cane similar to what is in the attached picture. I've looked all over the Chiang Mai area and haven't seen anything. Has anyone seen canes such as this or have any ideas where I might find one?

Thanks

David

I saw walking sticks for sale in Jarin Resort Mae Suai, they're called 'Burmese walking stick', maybe there are
places closer in the city that sell them.

Thanks @orchis. I have one of those. They are in 2 sections. The one I am looking for is just one solid piece.

We bought a couple of walking canes 5-6 years ago as depicted in your photo.    They were in the shops across the street from the BoSang Umbrella Factory.    All kinds of wood products.    Cheap too.    Where the post office is or was.    Not sure in the P.O. moved or just remodeled.   Actuall, the shop was located right next to the P.O.

Fine print makes a difference on Lazada.

Out of stock

I saw an old bloke in our village with a home made walking stick.

it was outstanding and I could see it cost him about 25bt.

Materials needed:

1m of 25mm diam blue water pipe

2no 90degree bends

Small tin of pipe solvent cement.

1 25mm circular rubber foot

If you dont like blue, paint it to suit your taste.

Its certainly what I will do when I get a bit doddery

Timely thread as my wife wants to get her dad a walking stick from the UK and take it to LOS as they're so hard to find, other than the hospital-style ones with three or four legs.

And when you get that "Doddery" you will be too doddery to either remember what it was for and certainly unable to put it together!

The hospital style ones with three or four legs are much safer and harder to lose or forget when you go places because they stand up on their own.  Yes, I know they look ugly, but they do a much better job than the one pictured in the OP, which aren't safe.

But I got impression he might want for purposes other than just walking?

Outrageous, $50 for a walking stick?
