cleaning termite sludge off teak parquet floors ?

Featured Replies

Oh boy, the little devils had at some boxes ... now there's a very strong coat of whatever they exuded during their cellulose orgies, or whatever, stuck on the teak.

What do you think about applying some kind of oil ... oil-based stain ? ... after cleaning ? I guess worst case is the teak strips need to be re-sanded, refinished.

Appreciate any ideas !

What is the teak finished with and how does it look after cleaning?

Thanks, Khun Bill,

I don't know if the strips are sold finished and sealed, or if finishing is done after install. Light brushing using soap and water ... afterward the strip is still discolored. I'm gong to try and oil one today to see how that looks.

Try WD40, on a small patch first, it seems to clean most things ?

Thanks, Khun Trevoromgh,

I thought of that, and your response motivates me to try it. I tried olive oil yesterday, and the result was good enough to hid the discoloration .... temporarily, I assume.

If it is teak, you might try teak oil sold in paint stores or paint departments.
