Schoolgirl drowns after motorbike caught in Chachoengsao flash flood

A schoolgirl drowned after her motorcycle was swept off a road in Chachoensao's Phanom Sarakham by a flash flood on Monday evening.
 

Rescuers found the body at 5.12pm, less than an hour after witnesses saw her engulfed by the current at 4:27pm.

 

The girl was identified as Arisa Pinkul, aged 13, who lived in Moo 1 village in Tambon Tha Than.

 

Eyewitness Rabiab Boonmak, 72, said he had waved at the girl to stop because the flood was flowing fast across the road. But she had continued on before being overpowered by the floodwaters.

 

Rabiab said he saw the girl surface three times before she disappeared.

Sad... Plus sad that it just gets reported as a normal, everyday event..

She was 13 yrs old, riding a motorbike on the public roads... !! Wake up Thailand ?

That is just normal - yes - and if they drive with "Public School Transport" some Private contracter of the village - they are often sitting on the roof of the PickUps and Buses because no other place. 

So just normal - yes ?

So young, so sad. Too young to appreciate the strength and danger of running water.

My neighbors son of only 9 is practicing to drive a motorbike , only a few more weeks before he can drive to school self.

Laziness of the parent will get him in trouble soon.

Such a sad loss, but alas aged 13 here in Thailand many don't have the common sense or knowledge to judge dangers

as adults do.. she paid with her life for taking the chance of going into a flash flood!
