Now that statement explains everything  to all of us reading your ridiculous comments on TV.    Interesting that you mentioned that you take  Uber considering that they have not operated in Thailand for 6 months.    Love to see your further comments on your stable of Porsche and M cars, by which I assume you are talking about Meccano  ????????????. Do you actually know what they look like or just another fantasy like taking Uber?

Come on buddy, I said "I use to take uber". Its not as if I don't know Uber was bought out and ceased operation.

Since you ask, this is just two of my cars at my company right now ???? others are parked at home. I don't think I need to bring around the Esso49 sheet of paper and start the car up to prove its really my car do I?

Just in case you are wondering the Cayenne legroom isn't that great, the CX5 that the OP just purchase has better legroom than the cayenne. Compare to the City, perhaps somewhat similar.

We went to test a CX5 which was definitely best of the bunch, we were not going to pay stupid money for a Merc or BMW which were no better. I saw the CX3 and drove that as well, it goes like a rocket, corners on rails and huge saving on CX5. Best choice but it is smaller.

Yes, they look pretty good. How's their court case proceeding?

Would have loved a Cayenne but price for a 2013-2016 model is just incredibly high.  Came very close to a BMW X1, but it was a little bland and slow (no 25i model in Thailand).

I highly recommend porsche if budget allows. Its very reliable and service and parts costs about the same as BMW. My Caynne has 90k on the clock, never had any major issues aside for wear and tear parts such as air suspension. My particular model I had to replace the rear hinge twice. It cost me more to fix my 7 series which I just sold this year compare to the cayenne.

Hope you enjoy your new car.

Our Lady Neighbour has one of those Huge Porche SUVs, to old to bother wit names n numbers, its like a great White Whale, a most hideous thing to me. Shes not though.:partytime2:

the most hideous thing is a Porsche Cayenne which is smaller than the most favoured SUVs in Thailand. by the way, some homes have "porches", the cars made in Zuffenhausen, Germany are called Porsche.

2016/17 Honda Civic 1.8, trunk/boot big enough to take ya bike with the wheels off, can sit 3 in the back ok, goes fast enough for the Thai roads, beautiful lines, good fuel economy, .. a cool ride.
CVT gearbox; change transmission oil every 20k.... headlights aren’t the best so upgrade to stronger halogens than stock.... not LED cos they ain’t got the same throw

How childish can you be when someone questions your story ? By the looks of it very childish as anybody can take photos of cars they don't own. As for Uber you you seemed to try to attempt to cover your mistakes as taking Uber  was not in the past tense as you attempted to indicate above, rather it was in the present tense as your statement previously was, and I quote; "Just because I take Uber "   .  Sorry  but you have tripped yourself up this time.  But hey don't worry about it was a good amusing yarn anyway and I doubt nobody was interested in taking your comments seriously anyway.

Well my post #44 mentions “ I use to take Uber”. My post #52 says “I take Uber” oops on my grammar slip up. So here comes the grammar police.

You challenge me to post my imaginary meccano cars which I did. Now you are calling it fake because you got owned, keep up with the insults of calling me stupid and childish. Hahaha have a good day.

Back on topic. How is the Reliability of the Thai built BMW’s. I’ve been looking at 2/3 year old 3 & 5 series and low mileage examples seem to be a good price. Maybe because Thais aversion to buying not new????

What's the point with "fast"?  I assume you have a wife with kids and living in Bangkok (according to your nick).

I think reliability comes with the manufacturers engineering, not where it is assembled. Assembly lines are just manned by robots and a few blokes with tools putting the rides together. Plain old repetition stuff, after a few weeks guys could probably do the job with their eyes closed..????

Thanks guys, I checked out Volvo V60 and XC40. V60 was nice but a little dull to drive.  XC40 (2.3mb) looked great but space not so great.  Also checked out a certified used Benz GLC250d (2.6mb) but ended up with a Mazda CX5 diesel turbo after all.  Good drive, good deal on the price and with all the reviews saying how well it stacks up I couldn't ignore it.  Got several extras in the deal, 100K discount off list, 3 years Mazda care, 3 years insurance and 2.19% interest for anyone who's looking for one.

I'm in the same predicament as you.

Like the look of the XC40 but values drop like a stone. But then again so do Mazda's and BMW's when they are approaching the end of the 5 year BSI warranty.

Which Mazda dealer did you go to to get that deal? And if you don't mind me asking how much did you put down as a deposit?

With the new shape BMW's out next year maybe the current X1 or X3 might get a bit cheaper?

We're looking at buying a car in the New Year.

Hi Vacuum, yes living in Bangkok but not city centre. Wife with baby on the way.  Trying to get the best of both worlds by having something large and comfortable enough for wife to drive with baby seat in the back, pram/bicycle space in the boot, but has enough kick for overtaking and some torque for me to enjoy when I drive on my own or go on the motorway out of town. Have a Honda Civic now which is fine and will be kept, but certainly not quick.

Hi Razz,  went to Mazda Sukhumvit between Ekamai and Phra Kanong.  Happy to put you in touch with our sales guy who is great but does not speak English.  Deposit will be 376,000 baht.  Meeting with finance company this Saturday there to make sure I get the minimum 15% deposit as an ex-pat (some insist on 25%).  Also ordered the bodykit from Arkira Auto which looks better (and is cheaper) than Mazda's own.  Mazda will fit this for us free and include it in the insurance.

I've just seen the new style BMW 3 series online and it looks good in M Sport guise.  I think performance is very marginally better than current.  Not sure how long it will take and in what engines it will come to Thailand though.  New X4 looks ok but 4mb too high.  X1 for me is too slow and looks too much like a housewives car, especially with none of the more sporty engines being sold in Thailand.

Prices of X1 or X3 will drop 100,000 to 250,000 baht when new models come out. I'v seen up to 300k discount on X3 (test drive cars with low hundreds on the odometer) during models changes. So wait for it for a good deal when dealer wants to clear their inventory or showroom / test cars.
