when did this actually happen?

Probably has never stopped and is continuing today.  Barron and Tiffany probably own the land that many trump towers are built and the trump org. is paying them a monthly rent!  That's why he refuses to release his income tax forms.

It's one thing if an entrepeneur starts from scratch, builds something and it ultimately crashed. But Trump took over profitable going concerns, including the family business, and ran them into the ground. He repeatedly overpaid for assets. In other words, The Great Negotiator got outnegotiated time and again.

Failing in business and not giving up can be a valuable experience because you can learn from mistakes. Many successful CEO's have the same story. The key is the end result which is he has ultimately ended up the President of the United States of America. Yes, sure seems like he was out-negotiated. Trump is not an idiot.

So you're evaluating his business ability based on the fact that he became President? Well, I guess you've just proved that Thomas Jefferson was a great businessman, too. All historians would differ with you on that point, but what do they know? Also, Ulysses Grant comes to mind. And I suspect there are others.

As for learning from mistakes, Trump repeatedly made the same mistake: overpaying. And he ran successful businesses  not businesses that he built - but businesses that he bought with his father's money either lent or gifted- into bankruptcy. Repeatedly.

This story has already been refuted by Trump, stating that the IRS signed off on these types of transactions long ago. Just another attempt by the NY Southern District to "trump" up something to keep the NYT fed with crap.

I'm waiting for the NYT to report that there is an eye witness to Trump pulling a train on a group of Midget wrestlers from Mexico and that the alleged victims have engaged the services of Michael Avenatti to represent them. Oh the horror.

Oh well if Trump refutes the allegations then clearly they cannot be true!

It seems the plot thickens.   Some of the information comes from Trump's sister, a Federal Court Judge:

Filing by Trump’s Federal Judge Sister Led to NYT Tax-Fraud Exposé

The next Trump family reunion might be a bit contentious. The New York Timeshas revealed that its bombshell story about Donald Trump engaging in “dubious” tax schemes and “outright” fraud to increase his inheritance from his parents’ wealth came about because of a filing made by his federal judge sister. Journalist Susanne Craig said she found the disclosure form Maryanne Trump Barry filed as part of her Senate confirmation hearing. It showed a $1 million contribution from an obscure family-owned company: All County Building Supply & Maintenance.

Oh well, if Trump said so then it must be so.   He has no history of lying, does he?

Despite your desire to hang something on Trump, he never denied that it happened, only that it was not illegal. Far as I can tell he only did what other rich people do.

If it was illegal, the IRS is going to be very embarrassed.

This is just the usual TDS from the NYT.

Once a con man, always a con man.

But the core "trump" fans can't be convinced by anything. Facts don't matter. The only way to save the USA now is to ignore the hopeless and consolidate those that haven't been infected and end this madness!

How is doing something legal a "con"?

One of the examples given was declaring a building at a value of $40 something million and then selling it for 16 times that amount.

The IRS does not, nor can it check out everything.   But if you get in their radar, then beware.

Nothing to do with TDS, everything to do with him being a crook and a liar.

IMO most politicians are liars, and many are also crooks, so how is he any worse than other politicians?

There are several examples of crooked American politicians, and one ex politician in particular, but I don't need to name them on here. Anyone with any nous knows who they are.

And almost all of Asia is run by dictators and despots.   And yes, it is 2018, so the question is why are you defending a Neanderthal?

He is corrupt to the bone.   He lies constantly and his administration is a revolving door of incompetence and illegal activities.

This is situation is pointing to how deep the Trump corruption runs.

Perhaps you can tell us who, in American politics is a shining example of honesty. I can't think of any.

It's amazing to me that you Trump guys have to keep going back to the "legal" thing.  It's perfectly legal for Trump to lie his ass off to the American people.  Lying to someone is a type of conning.  Many Trump supporters have said that they voted for Trump because they thought he was a successful businessman.  So they were conned.  Can't you see that?

False equivalence - booooooring. That's what you man-child fanboys revert to every time the POS in the WH is revealed for what he really is.

Actually most politicians will omit information, slant information, dodge questions, etc., but avoid outright lies.  Not Trump, if his mouth is open it is a safe bet he is lying.  He buries the public with so many lies the fact checkers can't keep up.
