Vegetarian festival in Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

I didn't know that the vegetarian festival has already started. Does anyone know of any interesting places to visit for this festival in Chiang Mai?

Today I went to Central Kad Suan Kaew- and in the lower level right in front of where the grocery store is, multiple tables were set up of vegetarian goodies.

Some of the best veggie food I've had here yet and huge platefulls for 40-50 baht.

Very sweet people, and they mentioned they return daily until the 17th I believe.

Then right outside the Starbucks at the mall the night food stands set up (mostly meat outside but also veggie and vegan Pad Thai and smoothies), and some talented kids in an amplified band were jamming western music. It was a lot of fun and quite lively.

Yes, 17th is the last day of the festival.

I know about Kad Suan Kaew but was hoping if there are other places like Doi Suthep I've never seen that also celebrate this festival.

In Phuket, there is a huge celebration but it seems to be mild in CM.

The only "Vegetarian Festival" is in Phuket. Worth checking out if you haven't seen it before. It's not only about food.

I can highly recommend a trip or two to the Makro meat section. The prices have plummetted simply to counter their extortionate veggie prices this week.

Enjoyed checking out a trolley of meat yesterday!
