The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) has given a fact-finding committee 15 days to determine why its assistant secretary-general, Piset Nakhaphan, pulled a gun on a taxi driver at the Chaeng Watthana Government Complex in north Bangkok.

Video captured by the taxi’s dashboard camera, which has widely circulated online, shows a man resembling Piset draw a pistol and point it at the taxi driver.

As security guards gather, a woman appears and speaks to both the taxi driver and the man with the gun, urging the latter back to his car. The taxi leaves the scene.

NACC secretary-general Worawit Sookboon confirmed that the gun-wielding man was Piset but insisted this was a personal matter that had nothing to do with his official position and duties.

Worawit’s deputy, Natcha Kerdsri, will lead the fact-finding committee assigned to investigate the circumstances.

Piset told Thung Song Hong police on Tuesday that the taxi had cut in front of him just before he entered the government complex.

He honked his horn and overtook the taxi because he and wife were hurrying to do an errand at a state office.

Piset claimed the taxi tailed him, honking its horn several times with the headlights on high beam.

He said he stopped to confront the taxi driver and took his gun for self-protection but had no intention of firing it.

“I want the public to see what happened before that – not just the clip of me taking out the gun,” he said.

and tomorrow it will be revealed that:

Mr. Piset was stressed from his job, because he worked sooo hard

Mr. Piset was frustrated from his wife, who nagged him for not rating at least a Mercedes and chauffeur

Mr. Piset misunderstood the slowing of the other car as a threat on his life, the government, the Nation, and Buddhism

Mr. Piset will then apologize to the country, the Thai people and TAT for confirming Thailand's reputation as a hub of bad behaving officials

but he will not apologize to the other driver, whose life he threatened, instead he will receive another medal to wear

Plus a "bar" to go with his parachute wings.

His fully detailed, accurate, and justifiable excuse has been noted and investigated. It is clearly shown that no further action is required but the taxi driver is now being sort to answer a long list of chargeable traffic offences

business as usual then.

dont go to arrest him, ask him to come in when and if he please, on the way buying a songkran watergun to present as the weapon used.

ps. the 2 security guards a poster display why they have zero use beyond road sweeping.

I am surprised they walked into the fray. One might expect them to take cover!

should be jail time for pulling a gun but here in Thailand it will be a wrist slap, thai laws and the way they are dished out are pathetic

Plus given his position should be dismissed and seriously fined and barred from any similar employment for life.

They’ve missed a trick there. His boss should have said that Piset thought he saw some people committing corruption so he pulled his gun on them to stop it. 24/7 - this man is hunting down ‘colupshun!’.

I wonder what he would have done if the guy he threatened, out ranked him and got out of his car with a gun in his hand?

Probably would have shot him as he was getting out. Doesn't matter how big your gun is if you are shot first you die. Another needless death that this case shows clearly.

Act passively and there is a good chance you will live. A smile and a wai would be a far better defense in this situation. All the gunman wanted was to get the upper hand which he and his passenger quickly obtained which gave him time to calm down. Now the police can take over with no risk to the threatened man.
