Cool in upper Thailand as thunderstorms continue elsewhere

PNSOC611028001002601.jpg

BANGKOK, 29th October 2018 (NNT) — Cool conditions are expected to continue in the upper part of Thailand while thunderstorms are forecast to remain in the East and the South of the country.

The Meteorological Department said oday that the moderately high pressure cell over the upper part of Thailand is bringing the North and the Northeast cool mornings as the temperature is set to slide further.

It said that such an outlook is projected on the back of a strong pressure cell, which is moving from China into the upper region of Thailand. Accordingly, colder weather and gusty winds are expected while the temperature may drop by three to five degree Celsius.

The weather bureau is urging residents in both regions to beware of cooler air and stay alert to any change in the temperature.

For the East and the South, the Meteorological Department has noted that thunderstorm will continue for some time because of the presence of the northeast monsoon system over the Gulf of Thailand in the southern region, where waves can be as high as two or three meters.

Nope, I meant the other way around. I might be dangerous to go closer to the Thai freezing point.

we had a cold snap here in Hua Hin a year or so ago. Thai ladies wearing ski jackets during the day.

I was cold sitting outdoors.

It was a wonderful change from the hot and frickin' hot and for about two days being able to wear a jacket from California.

The forecast for Nan is showing no reduction in maximum temps. Overnight minimums are forecast to drop and that will be nice. Might even pack a thermos full of coffee and head up to the local hilltop wat to take in the sunrise.

A sweeping generalization but, I don't associate strong winds with high pressure systems. Maybe Thai high pressure systems are special.

Thai Meterological Dept. forecast for Loei says down to 14 °C Friday and Saturday nights.  Earlier they had said 12.  Where that is in Loei I have no idea.

A lovely 18 degrees in Nan this morning. Wife and I packed a Thermos of coffee, picked up some Thai donuts at the market and went up to Wat Phra That Khao Noi to await the sunrise. The best picture was this one as we arrived around 5:48am.
