  • You just gotta laugh, now they are ringing a bell to keep the lazy bar stewards awake.

I wonder how many of them wake up startled, wondering who has just bought the round of drinks.

  • I'm sure walking the streets, making sure the public are safe, would be a better method.

Even worse than the actual childish unreliable unstructured idea, just look at the crowd come to witness the grand opening bell ringing, all with that certain look of wow and amazement and OTC politeness, including several high ranking cops who should be engaged in much more important duties.

Now wait for the chinese tourgroups who all want to see that bell....if i were a tourist i would come see it, it's the most funny thing of thailand.

The bell gets rung 10 minutes / 30 minutes late.

Senior says 'why are you late ringing the bell?'

Answer:  'traffic, traffic'.

Senior says: 'ahh... OK never mind.'

I'm off to the station, Ampol's buying the drinks.

They better use a cookook's clock.....or is that too much hightech for them?

Also serves to keep the citizenry aware that there are police present, don't forget to keep some small-denomination notes handy.

You won't need the notes if you volunteer to ring the bell hourly....quite a deal!

And who will wake up the police officer who is responsible for ringing the bell which is supposed to wake up the rest of them.

My immediate thought as well - perhaps he has an alarm clock to wake him up so that he can awake the others!
