The bell gets rung 10 minutes / 30 minutes late.

 

Senior says 'why are you late ringing the bell?'

 

Answer:  'traffic, traffic'.

WHY NOT just have all the coppers mobile phones's alarms set to go off??

My immediate thought as well - perhaps he has an alarm clock to wake him up so that he can awake the others!
