Bangkok police have arrested a Chiang Rai man and seized 300,000 methamphetamine pills.

Pol Maj Gen Ampol Buarubporn, acting commissioner of the Provincial Police Bureau 1, held a press conference at the bureau's head office in Bangkok's Chatuchak district to announce the arrest of Sunthorn Pajjattun, 49.

Ampol said Sunthorn was arrested in a sting operation, delivering the drugs to an undercover policeman at the car park of Central Plaza in Chiang Rai's Muang district on Wednesday night.

Ampol said his bureau planned the operation after a drug suspect was arrested in Bangkok in April and he implicated Sunthorn as the one who allegedly supplied him the drug.

Undercover police tried but failed to convince the suspect to deliver the drugs on October 25 and 26 and eventually convinced him to deliver the drugs on Wednesday.

After the undercover policeman checked the drugs at the back of Sunthorn's pickup, he signalled other officers who were hiding, to make the arrest.

They refuse to stop the policy of paying police a reward per pill.  We will never know how many are recycled
