Does anyone know what the "actual rules" on whether you can use any Immigration office to renew your 1-yr retirement extension-of-stay and 90-day reporting. I moved to Jomtien in 2016 and received my first 1-yr retirement visa there. I then moved to Bangkok in Jan 2017, but returned to Jomtien in Sep 2017 to renew my 1- yr extension with no problems. They did ask me to come back the next day to pick up my passport because they wanted to confirm my new address in Bangkok. In Apr 2018, I returned to Jomtien and did a 90-day reporting while there, again with no problems. This time in Sep 2018, I was referred to an agent in Bangkok by a good friend to do my 1-yr extension because I thought it might be a wash from paying to go to Jomtien for 2 nts stay + taxi & food, etc. The agent told me they should not have renewed my visa in Jomtien since I moved to Bangkok. He made a big deal out of it and said I had to file a new address relocation form with CW Immigration in BK. I told him I already notified Immigration when I renewed last year, but he insisted they should not have renewed me. I decided to use the agent this time because I never been to CW in BK and because I didn't feel like spending the money to go back to Jomtien. So, my question still stands... Does anyone know what the "actual rules" on whether you can go to any Immigration office to do your 1-yr retirement extension? I'm not sure I believe what this agent told me...

Kindly, Johnny

So basically this "agent" say's that the IO was in the wrong to do the right thing for you ?

Who or what do you believe more ? The factual result from what you did by yourself or the verbal outcry from an agent who wants money out of your pocket ?

When changing address and immigration office you should file form TM28.

Does that mean when you do the TM28 and change immigration office you cannot use any other office to get your 1-yr retirement extension renewed. You have to use the new office where you live, or can you still go to any other office? Kindly, Johnny

I've never heard of anyone being able to do their extension of PtS in an office that does not cover the province where they are registered to be living (via TM30/28).

I do know people who actually live elsewhere though.  E.g. someone living with a working spouse in BKK may spend some weekends at their own condo in Pattaya for example, where they are registered.  They would then do their extension in Chonburi unless they formally registered their address in BKK, and would then extend there.

Under the “rules” you can only apply at the office that covers the area of the address you give on the application.

Thanks elviajero… You answered my question.  I was hoping to do myself in Jomtien again (it's much easier) instead of going back to CW in BK. That place is crazy... Oh well... I have plenty of time to shop around to see if I can find a cheaper agent in BK that can help reduce my wait time at CW. Thanks again... Kindly, Johnny
