USA 120 volts vs. Thai 220 Volts for Charger

Recommended Posts

I just purchased an Xs in the USA (110v) and want to know if charging it in Thailand with local 220v has any potential to damage the phone...?

Cheers

Its rated voltage should be clearly marked on the charger somewhere.  Can you post a picture of an writing or symbols on it?

Hi OneMoreFarang. Thanks.

Mine is just a small little cube that the USA website says is a

'5W USB Power Adapter'. Will look for something from some of the electronic stores.

Likely somewhere on that adapter is a label with the input voltage.

If you are not sure you can buy lots of '5W USB Power Adapter' online and offline for little money.

If you have a phone which needs lot of power make sure you buy an adapter with a high A value i.e. like this with 5A

If the Amp = A value is higher then you need that is no problem. The phone will only take as much as it needs. You won't damage a phone if you have an adapter with high Amp value. It will charge (maybe) faster.
