Gen Prawit dismisses speculation about Mrs Yaowapa’s escape

Deputy Prime Miniser Prawit Wongsuwan dismissed speculation that Mrs Yaowapa Wongsawat, younger sister of fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, has slipped out of the country to escape probable criminal charges related to the controversial government-to-government rice deal with a Chinese firm.

Citing a report of the immigration police, he said this morning  there was no evidence whatsoever that Mrs Yaowapa had left the country as widely speculated by the media.

Asked by a reporter whether it was possible that Mrs Yaowapa slipped out of the country through other channels besides immigration checkpoints like former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, the deputy prime minister said he didn’t know but, however, quickly asked why she had to run since she had not been charged yet.

One big happy exiled family.

Chances are, they'll all be back in one form or another.

Very Thai chaos reigning.

Looking forward to it.

Extended Thai Political Lakorn.

????

I’m looking forward to their return. I probably won’t be here but it will be entertaining to watch these lemmings go through this entire mess again.

More like no faith in keeping things quiet any longer.

It has long been rumoured she was one of the principal beneficiaries of the rice mortgage scam. And perhaps Boonsong, the former Commerce Minister sentenced to 42 years jail for his part in the scandal, has been singing like a canary whilst in the slammer.

Well given it was billions of baht an they have section 44 at their disposal it should be very easy to find all that money then...... Oh but despite all their resources they cannot locate a single transaction/baht of it.......

Not sure why she would of had to slip over the border, she could have just flown out using normal channels.

Given the NACC, would you trust a fair and independent review of her case?

Unlike the ex-Ministers who have suddenly deserted Pheua Thai to join Palang Phracharat ( now why would they leave a popular party that has won every election since 2001 to join an unknown party- hey, it couldn't be because they were threatened with prosecution for cases of corruption if they didn't, could it?)- unlike them, Yaowapa is a a Shinawat so that option of defection was impossible.

So what to do when exposure is threatened?

Run.

With all of the resources at their disposal i am sure if their were money trails they would have been exposed a long time ago. And that goes for all of the Shinawatras and their associates. Is blackmailing people a legally allowable investigative technique these days?

What you are essentially saying is that the courts, 'independent bodies' can be influenced who and who not to investigate? Would you have trust in a justice system like that and stay and face the music?

For clarity i am not claiming any of them are innocent (on all sides) but why would anyone if they had a choice stay and face a corrupt justice system which has been shown time and time again to do anything to punish one family?

I thought there was no more room in Dubai - it's full of Shins.

They could start their own city, they have enough money and soon they will have enough people, Oak will probably be joining them too.

Shin City.

It's not an unknown party as to whom the party supports - the junta and Prayut.

So their motivation to abandon the PTP might be one of personal survival and not changing ideologies. Join the opposition that holds absolute power, give it the benefit of credibility in the next election by their changing political loyalty in exchange for avoiding harassment, trumped up charges and kangaroo political court prosecution.

I read that he was singing and that the trail led to Yoawapa. Remember when he first did not want to talk because he was protecting someone high up. Seems to be all true, guess he knew no help was coming so he was going to help himself.

I always suspected that it was connected to Thaksin or someone close to him.
