Sim Card Registration

Featured Replies

:o

All of this talk a year or so ago abo ut everyone rushing to register there SIM cards or else there number would be cancelled.

I have seen people buying them at 7/11 and I was recently given one at the Movies as part of a promotion from True. Has this registration business been thrown out the window now that they have most everyones name and number?

Yeah it all died the death ages ago, gov't decided it wasn't going to stop anything bad happening. I THINK it's still needed in the south though.

Meanwhile we've had the 'add an 8' debacle, which caused major confusion amongst the masses :o

I purchased a new pre-paid SIM from a tiny counter shop in MBK ~ 10 days ago and was required to complete a registration form, and show a copy of my passport. They then activated the SIM for me.

I have two sim cards. one I brought with me from the UK and the other I purchased in Pattaya. Both are unregistered! So do you think most mobile phone retailers would be able to register my sim cards? Thanks :o

Why bother? It's no longer a requirement and your phone won't be blocked if you don't :D

Some shops have always asked for ID when buying a SIM (I had to produce my PP, and that was a long time before the government registration fiasco), many others don't bother.

Well died a ugly death - like most things they say smth and then go through the motions then realize what a mistake it was in the first place.

Bought a new SIM a few months ago, asked about registering it... "why?" was the reply l got. :o
