Overnight activity has seen our intrepid man on 4 wheels pull away. Billd766 now needs a telescope to make out the rear of Colin's buggy ...... only a fall at the last fence can stop him now! (That did happen in 2010, when "Ravingpoledancer" landed awkwardly on the last hurdle and had to be put down on the spot)

 

The cameramen are all jostling for that much favoured spot in the last few yards before the tape and a baboon was spotted running off with a Nikkon ......

 

It is his to lose now .......

It's a wee bit soft underfoot, with the far side being a little firmer. Was out inspecting at 5:30 am, looking for potholes and dead rabbits and there are a few buffalo furrows to watch out for. Nothing that can't be jumped, but any wheeled runners should exercise caution. Overall, I'm happy with the condition of the track."

 

The big question is, who will be the headlines in tomorrow's papers, after all the leo beer bottles and laokao bottles have been cleared away? My money is firmly on Colinneil, who came so close last year!

Looking ahead to next year, it is clear we need to have rules that are well thought out. Not taking anything away from Colin, of course, a worthy winner, yet POTY 2019 should be drastically different.
