A villager was found drowned in a pond in Ubon Ratchathani two days after he was last seen alive, say local police.

The body of Chaiya Srisombutr, 48, was found floating on a pond in Ban None Yang village in Tambon Sa Saming, Warin Chamrab district at 9am.

A doctor determined he died about two days earlier. There was no trace of injury on his body.

An empty bottle of cheap white liquor and a mat were found on the pond’s edge

.

His neighbours told police that he was last seen drinking beside the pond two days before he could not be accounted for.
