,i would never have thought it ,most i know met their wives long after they got bored with the bar scene .but then i suppose those who think everyone marries a bar girl ,are those who were only able to find a woman who worked in one .

There is no rules who is good and bad girls in this world. There is amazing bar woman, who will give all they have and little bit more, and you have smart educated girls who will take all you have and a little bit more.

The whole thing about who is good, and not is just pure stupid. All muslims is terrorists? Or have the potential to be one?

It sort of happened. Was traveling here every cool season. Met my now wife, two years later, married. Until then a sworn bachelor. Came out of retirement.

I've few regrets. My wife is gold although I am missing a bit of strange on the side. Second career in some ways better than first.

Wish we had a nice condo with city view or next 7 years retire down south.

Wife works, 20+k pm no expectations i support her. That was made clear until I was willing to pull her from her current job. Even after I'd still expect her to PT just to get her out of the house.

It is too expensive and no way I'm bringing in funds to buy a condo at these prices and with these x rates.

Wife's family in BKK. Poor but never a request for money. I give them about 10k a year and pau three bottles of bourbon. I pay a lot of our expenses so wife is free to give what she wants.

would not do it again

when I moved here full time, 10+ years ago,

I picked Thailand out of laziness

Had visited Thailand at least 100 times during the preceding 25+ years on biz trips

could speak a bit Thai - knew Bangkok in and out, had a few Thai acquaintances

wanted somewhere warm - wanted somewhere low cost

picked LoS because I couldn't be bothered to think through alternatives properly

don't regret it but with some hindsight (the only true wisdom)

I think PI or somewhere in southern Europe would have suited me better

am quite comfortable here though

Ten years back Thailand was better than anywhere else.

PI is a lot better than it was, southern Europe is currently suffering many problems.

If they would stop raising the immigration bar level on a quarterly whim thus letting all of us relax having a peace of mind knowing everything is solid with no new hurdles to jump over (and hopefully make it), then for me happy camper with my family. The last 4-5 years have been a lot of uncertainty, and if that bar is raised even 1-2-3 more times, then it will be quite difficult for most to be happy here.

NO, of course, I do not regret. Because b4 moving here I visited the country for many years and was familiar with.

Only one negative comment .… I'm in shock ????

Give me the military junta of Thailand over the inept, lying, scheming and scumbag politicians of the UK any day of the week.

So you prefer the military government of Thailand over the inept, lying, scheming and scumbag politicians, who at least could be voted out.

No, IMHO the junta are far worse. They stole the country.

Post as a "heretic" and suffer the barrage of invective that would result?

Not surprising that anyone would just leave the result of the poll to speak for itself and for them.

Did you blink on 22nd of May 2014?

Most people remember it and the promises that the current PM made too.

You know the usual ones like there will be an election in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and the latest delayed one in 2019.

Or the ones about reforming the RTP, ending corruption etc.

Giving themselves an amnesty for ALL past present and future deeds.

Clamping down on free speech and the right to protest and have an assembly of more than 5 people who could discuss politics.

Of course if things like that don't bother you, they do bother a lot of Thais, then carry on supporting the junta.

Oh, that. I remember reading about it, I just don't remember it having much of an impact on my life one way or another.

You?

Without a doubt. One of the best decisions I ever made. Great country, great people (for the most part), great food, great weather.

Oh? In what ways?

My family does not seem to have been affected negatively.

the best thing about thailand, and what i want from

any place i live in, is the ability to drive right up to wherever

i need to visit, cutting down kilometers  of walking per day

Yup.

Next.

YES !

These polls seem to pop up on a regular basis - at least one a week - to what end?

Here's a question:

When all of the information has been collated to what purpose will it serve? Also what do you do with all of this information that you have gleaned?

Who amongst us regular readers remembers this gem from earlier on this year?

"Have you ever done 'stuff' with a LadyBoy?"

I would like to see these polls run for a fixed period of 1 or 2 weeks and then the OP can give a summary and close the thread to further comments.

Like everything else, the polls are for entertainment, what else would they be for?

I think they should have a "Do you plant to Die in Thailand?" poll.

Should I believe every single words of many posters posting every single day everything is rotten to the core in this country, between the killer roads, the corrupt police, the women all thieves and all Thai men being immature and therefore dangerous if any contradiction arose with anyone, I would not only regret it but I would probably already be running away at full speed:cheesy:

Hi @Scott can we please have a parallel survey for those of us who have not yet made the move...

For guys who are/were thinking of moving to Thailand...

  1. Still Happy, steaming ahead
  2. On the side lines, maybe/maybe not
  3. decided against

Be honest I'm in trap 2, have more than enough money to meet the requirements just starting to think I'm not so welcome anymore so why shouldn't I look elsewhere.

And a survey will help you decide?
