A Thai mother who had been missing from her house in Chiang Rai for eight months was found wandering about in Yunnan province in China.

Kaewmanee Ajor, 59, said she had no idea how she got to Kunming, the capital of Yunnan.

She said she remembers some things, and forgets the rest.

Chinese police found her wandering along route R 3 A and contacted the Thais.

Kaewmanee's daughter Suchada Ajor went with Region 5 immigration officials to a hospital in China to pick up her mother and bring her home.

A large contingent of smiling faces met the team as they arrived at Mae Fa Luang airport in Chiang Rai on Friday.

Kaewmanee was checked at the airport clinic but appeared none the worse for wear.

Suchada praised immigration chief Lt-Gen Surachate "Big Joke" Hakparn for his efforts. The Lt-Gen had demanded that immigration put their best effort into finding her mother.

The department of foreign affairs also helped out with travel expenses.

Perhaps. But is anyone  going to explain  non cognitive travel from Thailand to mainland  China ? Passport, visa, tickets?

I was  just  joking about  alien abduction anyway.

No. A different form of dementia. To the layman, all the same, but there are nuances. By the time Alzheimer's progresses to a situation where the patient  does not know where he/she is, the ability to walk a distance is gone as is general muscle control. there is periodic incontinence.

In this case, she was gone 8 months and in China. I suggest that there is more to the story than just an demented woman wandering off. She was fed, clothed, bathed etc. Someone was helping her out.
