Hot headed Thai woman takes revenge on a taxi with a baseball bat

 

 

A 33 year old Thai woman on a motorcycle chased a taxi that she said cut in front of her causing her and a pregnant friend to come off.

 

A baseball bat was then used to smash up the taxi.

 

Somdej Chaopraya police were called to the end of Somdej Chaopraya Road Soi 13 on Saturday night around 11.30 pm after an argument broke out between Kanokporn, 33, and Rinthong, 57.

 

A pink taxi had its front windshield and roof smashed in and wing mirrors damaged.

 

Rinthong was badly bruised and Kanokporn had a few minor bruises.

 

She said that as she approached Soi 13 the taxi suddenly and unexpectedly cut in front of her causing her to come off along with her pillion passenger who is three months pregnant.

 

When the taxi driver failed to stop she gave chase and caught up with him and used a baseball bat on his taxi.

 

(Sanook did not explain in their report where the baseball bat came from).

 

The taxi driver denied cutting in front of her and said he left the scene as it looked like there would be trouble.

 

Police sent both parties to Taksin Hospital to have their injuries assessed and will meet them both again on Wednesday.

 

Meanwhile they are examining CCTV.

 

Sanook reported that police are set to charge the woman with assault and criminal damage.

The cab driver's excuse for bolting pretty much confirms bat woman's (no pun intended) version of events.

 

Just a shame she didn't whack the driver with it also..

 

Does this one allow for a wai and 500 baht fine I wonder ????

If you reread the article it mentions that the driver was bruised. So she does appear to have used the bat on the driver.

It'll be interesting to compare the outcome of this situation with the foreigner doing a U-turn story. Short odds on foreigner royally screwed and taxi guy a wai and 500 baht huh?

These taxi drivers need sorting out big time.

 

I am all for helping out the working man/woman, but there needs to be some kind of training on how to deliver customer service to people. I have lost count the amount of times I have been ripped off/cut off/nearly knocked off my bike by these thugs and it is not acceptable.

 

A lot of these guys are high on crystal and couldn't care less about the customer & other road users as long as they get their 1,000 baht a day, not to mention their constant refusal of fares because they 'have no gas'.

 

Change - or face being run into the ground by smartphone apps.

In the US, I understand, baseball is a major sport. In Thailand, I have never seen any baseball bats for sale and I am not sure where (but I understand why) you would carry one on your bike. That all said I understand her rage at the careless Thai drivers.

In Chinatown, there are a lot of kiosks that sell baseball bats.  But they don't sell baseballs, gloves or catcher's mitts.  They do sell swords, daggers, nun-chuks, throwing knives, billy clubs and other implements of mayhem.
